it would be great if she could find an executive level turn-around job to occupy her between now and when the election must heat up, to firm up her resume in the eyes of the mushy middle. Not realistic. One, she can only devote herself to one passion fully. Two, turning a company around between now and 2012 would be a miracle considering the economy. Three, what, have her take over an exec spot for 18mos, then quit to run for President? Do you really want to hear the 'she's a quitter' crap again?

I never said that. While these two clowns are appearing at book signings and on late night folks like Mike Pence and Jim Demint are fighting the good fight in Congress.
I do not want four more years of zero.

"I don't see Abe Lincoln doing stand-up." I suggest you spend a bit more time studying history. Abe was widely acclaimed for his comedic skills. He did exactly the equivalent of the "stand up" of his day.

Fighting the good fight in congress? Pence and Demint are great, but they are part of the problem- establishment politicians. But Republicans wouldn’t have the fire under their butts if it weren’t for folks like Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, etc. who’ve brought common sense and plain speak to the bunk known as the Obama admin.

Lots of good old down home humor came from Abe.

This is the Nielsens. Like we couldn’t guess how this would turn out though.

" Sorry, I'm going to have to call BS on that one. Please, share with us your source that talks about Honest Abe doing the "equivalent of stand-up" of his day.
I will say your comedic skills are razor sharp - I can't stop laughing.
To: american_ranger
No doubt that in today’s media rich environment, good ol’ Abe would take to the airwaves too.

I do not want four more years of zero. Sarah Palin equals Obama?
Wowa!
To: OldDeckHand
Get a grip. Abe and Sarah have a lot in common.
Drop your prejudice and you would see it.
To: rintense
Well, all right!
Yeah, no surprise, but I like seeing it!!!!

Oh figures you’d chime in. You can’t stand Sarah anyway. What’s one more stick to bear her with?
Let me ask you this... whoever you choose to support come 2012, when they make a ‘celebrity’ appearance, will you toss them aside too?
LOL Good point there. Reminds me of something F. Scott Fitzgerald said to his daughter in a letter. She was constantly complaining that all the good men were taken, and he cautioned her to not flip the thesis around and assume that an untaken man could not possibly be “good” solely because he was available.
Here at FR, any day of the week you can get a long list of potential candidates for president who could not possibly get elected — that fact being their chief qualification for the office, or so it sometimes seems.
And as for the one person who CAN win, well, she seems to disqualify herself just because, well, she actually can (win).
And as for the celebity thing specifically—do people here remember what Ronald Reagan did for a living before he entered politics?

Umm, no.
I have no problem with her personally or politically for that matter. I'm just saying if she is the GOP nominee then zero wins reelection easily.

Sigh, I wish we could vote for leaders instead of celebrities. "
While your comment has a ring of truth and sobriety to it, in this day of modern communications it is almost impossible to know WHO to vote for, if they are not somewhat of a celebrity.
Sure, there record/resume is important, but if Resume's alone got you the job, there would be no need for interviews.
Nobody will vote for an unknown...well, unless you're an obama supporter.
Personally, I like to have an all-round knowledge of who I'm voting for, including their "hair down" personality. Being "formal" is easy to fake, the worlds worst sinners can put on a tie and look quite angelic in church. But it spontineity and off the cuff that really tells you about a person.
The kenyan had many fooled on the campaign trail, all scripted, handled, and teleprompTered...but once he started winging it, we see what an idiot he is...and how evil he can be. Maybe a few more "relaxed" momented during the campaign would have told a different tale of him. I mean, who knew that he picks his nose on camera?
Anyway, there is nothing wrong with a sense of humor, it displays intelligence, and WHAT one laughs AT, is very telling.
The bottom line is, Sarah is not even an announced candidate...given that, she would come across as....as...narcissistic if she came on Leno and started esposing policy and theory...it's NOT a news show.
All in all, I thought she did a great job at stand-up, even pretty good timing for an amatuer. Also, Sarah knows that the onion-skinned liberals don't like to be laughed at or ridiculed, and she's pretty good at that; for the misery they have given her and her family, they deserve it.
Every minute with every possible candidate can't be a waterloo moment, they are people too...besides, you dont' need to tell the opposition ALL your thoughts and plans.

[I don’t see Abe Lincoln doing stand-up. ]
I don’t see Abe Twittering or Facebooking either and in the process taking down socialist healthcare just by uttering “death panels”. Palin isn’t perfect, but she can think on her feet. Pulling off a comedy routine actually takes a huge presence of mind, try it if you don’t believe me.
