This might sound crazy but did this writer ask the minister what he meant? I have friends that speak in plural form. It threw me at first but when you think of it They are Three yet One.
This was not a crusade. I think you have your trousers in a twist over nothing important. No one went there to be converted.
Of course, I heard that “all y’all” thing from a woman while standing in line for the potty at the rally this weekend.
Now, I’m convinced she was a subversive element put in place by the people that allowed the “gods” thing to enter the speeches there. Her job was just to complicate and confuse the rallyers. No telling how many people she told that to...there could be entire busloads of people just waking up to the hideous nature of this subterfuge.
She was good too. She made it sound like a joke...with a cute little laugh coming from this cute little Southern Belle. Little did we understand the damage this joke would ultimately bring about!
I understand what you are saying. Maybe he was being PC, but to me, there is one true living God to Whom we should pray.
God Bless you.
Please LISTEN to the recorded prayer for yourself: He begins by using the singular term for God THREE TIMES then he switches to the plural for no good reason and uses the term “gods” (which is heresey) SEVEN or EIGHT times for the remainder of the prayer.
I’m with you on this. George Washington talked about Divine intervention by God. He didn’t say anything about “gods” nor did he pray to Allah.
If honor is to be restored to this nation we need to follow the example of the founding fathers. And there wasn’t a muslim among them. This political correctness asking all religions to pray is not going to help this country. I don’t think praying to the “great wind god” will have much of an effect. It sure didn’t help the Indians keep their lands when they were fighting the U.S. Army.
I’m thinking it is a verbal tic and nothing more.
I get you JT.
I, myself, have more faith that MY God is the one true God than to have to verbally berate those of other faiths 24/7. Might as well call them all “Infidels.”
Although I always get a kick out of the term “heathen.” LOL
Hmm, after watching that video and that excellent presentation of the facts regarding the establishment clause, I can now see that the pastor purposely added an “s” at the end of some use of ‘god’, even making overly emphatic pronunciation of same. Why do you suppose he did that in a prayer from a supposed Christian dedicating the rally for renewal?
It certainly wasn't a Mormon prayer style, though.
I suspect you have a BEAM in your eye....
Way to much protesting for a gathering with that many relgious demonations.
I listen to Beck’s radio program on a fairly regular basis. He talks about “God” (no “s”) all the time. You’re really working at this too hard...knitting is a good hobby.
Then there’s the folks that declared the “War of Nothern Agression” on the South...Philadephia comes to mind:
“youse” as in “Hey, youse gods.”
(pronounced yoose, but sorry, punctuation in youse, if any, fails to come to mind)
Listen,
Here’s the guys church:
http://www.tntchurch.net/
Senior Pastor:
Dr. Paul Jehle, Ed.D
Why don’t you email him and ask him to clarify what he said. If he is a “all gods are one” type guy, he’s probably not going to hid it.
Rather than speculate, just ask the guy.
A recording of the hymn--by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir--is available here.
Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus anointed that prophet and seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.
Refrain:
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Praise to his memory, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins,
Stain Illinois while the earth lauds his fame.
Refrain
Great is his glory and endless his priesthood:
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.
Refrain
Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know "brother Joseph" again.
All is forgiven. Now can I go vote the Dhimmi-crats out in November?
Psssst. Not everybody in America believes exactly as you do on the subject of religion. Not every gathering of conservatives is an evangelical revival meeting. Pass it on.
As for the "tic" I don't hear it. The problem is Pastor Jehles has no problem saying "God" over and over again the first three times he uses the term. There is no Sssss, no "gods", no tic. He also does not appear to have a problem adding Ssss onto other singular words other than the word "God" in his prayer. This leads me to believe that his choice of the term "gods" was intentional.
I was there and thought he was saying gods, but just figured it was some kind of speech impediment.
