Okay, now I listened to it. He was very deliberate in addressing godS 8 times. I cannot imagine praying to the “gods.” So there.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
I think Pastor Jehle is a genuine Christian saying a beautiful, authentically Christian prayer, and that he simply has a peculiar verbal tic (akin to a lisp) that appears at the end of sporadic phrases throughout his prayer, including ones ending in words other than “God”. I think that those here who think that he is ever in this prayer intentionally uttering the word “Gods” and meaning it in a plural sense are mistaken.
The problem with your statment is that it is not true.
Over and over again Mr. Beck and others speaking at the rally said Americans and America need to return to "god", need to turn to "god". Sounds like a crusade to me.
Glenn said Americans need to spend the next 40 days getting back to "god". THE question is this: WHICH one of the "gods" Pastor Jehel prayed to, WHICH one of the "gods" represented by the "Black Robe Brigade" on stage, does America and Americans need to return or come to?
There is only ONE TRUE and LIVING God, He and He alone God and beside Him, there is NO OTHER.
Authentically Christian prayers are NOT addressed to the “gods”. That is heresey.
Thanks for your honesty. All I ask is that people who read my post don’t take my word for it but that they examine the evidence for themselves and come to their own conclusion. This is why I provided the YouTube link along with the minute and second marks where the terms “God” and “gods” are found.
I am a Mormon and I like Beck for what he says and does, not because he is a Mormon. I don’t like Romney or Harry Reid because of what they say and do, not because they are Mormon.
I can make a list where the Bible uses the term gods too. But, the Bible is still the word of God no matter what I think it means. Just like Glen Beck’s rally CAN still be the work of God no matter what was said in the prayer. Is it the work of God? Maybe, maybe not. I personally believe anything that promotes faith, hope, charity, and freedom is of God.
Genesis 3:5
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:22
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.
(The only beings in existence are the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Satan, and Adam and Eve. Satan says gods and God says Us.)
Exodus 15:11
Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Exodus 18:11
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
Deuteronomy 10:17
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
Joshua 22:22
The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,)
Listen to the word “blood” at 8:36....it definitely sounds like it ends in “t” when he says it, somewhat like BLUH-T.
Sometimes when he says God, he does the same thing, sounding more like a “t” at the end than a “d”. A “t” that extends in time slightly and trails off at the end can sound like “ts”. I believe that is what you are hearing.
You ask a person to provide the opening prayer. You don’t ask them to tell you precisely what their wording will be.
I don’t agree with the use of the word “Gods”. That being said, I’m not convinced it destroys what Beck was trying to do. I certainly don’t like it. It is not a Christian prayer, once a call to “Gods” is invoked.
I have discussed the matter of this event with others. My emphasis was on Beck’s call for people to return to God.
It’s a hard sell for me to accept that an event is consecrated by our God, if a prayer asking for the consecration is addressed to “Gods”.
In the interest of not offending anyone, an event can lose it’s direction. I am not enthused to know that Imams were present on the platform either.
Our nation was founded by believers in the Christian God. We had run-ins with the Muslim believers early on in our nation’s history. Now some well-meaning people seem to think Islam can peacefully co-exist in our midst.
One need only know what is taking place at Disneyland right now, to realize how corroded that idea is.
At some point, you have to offend some people, because non-believers cannot be treated as true believers. If a religion wants to destroy your own, it’s best to keep them outside your borders, unless you wish to surrender.
Islam wants to destroy Christianity. Gods? It’s well on it’s way...
No. My statement was true. There was no alter call. No invitation to accept ‘gods’. You’re nitpicking very much like the MSM. Turn this rally into a religious issue and watch the faithful beat up on Glenn Beck. It’s what they want. It’s NOT what the rally was about.
In deference to your opinion, I just listened again to that prayer. It is not fuzzy. You can listen to just the last thirty seconds of it and hear he pronounces Lord without an “s” sound at the end, but in closing states we shall be a nation under gods’. His flipping and flopping is ... equivocating, pandering, and yes, very world council of churches-esque.
Wow, what a horrible message I had. So, well, HATEFUL. I think I see your point (end Sarc)
You are a grand example of why things are as they are. You want your ‘ears tickled’. God loves You! (End message) That gives such a warm fuzzy feeling doesn’t it? It is after all VERY True.
Yet, there is more. Jesus said “Repent!” From your post, I could infer that you be;eieve Jesus is just about flat-out cussing and slobbering in a maniacal rant.
I do not judge, but I can speak as to what is right.
Besides, I think you are missing the point of the rally and the motivation of those who were in attendance.
In other words-—
TROLL ALERT PEOPLE!!!
A question I would have on this would be...
With all the well known Christian ministers in this country, why didnt Beck ask one of them to open his rally ???
Franklin Graham or one of the other reputable Christian leaders would have been welcomed by the attendees...
With Rev Graham there would have been no confusion about God or gods...
And he would have endined his prayer with...
“In the Name of Jesus...”
and not that generic “in the name of christ...”
Glenn Beck is the man chosen (by whom?) on the “right” (political right) who will decieve many into the new One-world religion AKA Satanism!~
Just my 2 c and I was there at the rally (and it left a bad aftertase in my mouth, so to speak)- I had a much better experience as I was on the metro and an anonymous college student entered (a girl of I would guess between 18-21), she didn’t attend the really, but I could tell she was a local college girl, I was sitting with my party (4) and she entered, I did not give up my seat; which made me feel like a heel, she smiled at me with such love/forgiveness that I couldn’t have believed, and simply pulled out her Bible and read the Word of God!
This simple act of wittness for Christ to me, was greater than anything that Glenn Beck or any suppoed minister on the Mall that day had on me! Right there I dedicated my life to Christ, and have wrestled with it since-I can’t do it, only through Christ’s grace (his forgivness and belief in Him & then my public confession) can I or anyone be saved!
We should strive for this king of faith that this little college girl demonstrated, IMO, and not bombastic public show which was deceptive in it’s spiritual implications that Glenn Beck demonstrated on the mall.
Yes, I like when Beck exposes corruption, and teaches history so I am not a Glenn Beck hater, but IMO one should not listen to Glenn Beck on matters of belief in Christ the Savior!
Where is the video of the prayer?
Sorry I just noticed them (I just woke up), I will cut and paste the links, thanks.
I can’t tell you what religious bigotry looks like.
But I knows it when I sees it.
Mormons believe they will all be gods someday. Therefore there is more than one god in their view.
Their theology is not orthodox. I'm glad for Beck's exposing the socialism in Obama's administration and I hope it will continue but Beck's religion is not biblical truth.
Much ado about a verbal tic.
Who are the polytheists on that list?
