Yes, she has run before, but it is obvious her world doesn’t revolve around running for political office.

Her only job for the past 5 years has been running for Senate in DE three times. She has not held down any other job for almost 7 years.

Her world pretty obviously revolves around running for public office.

the GOP has refused to help her in any way

National leaders like Palin and DeMint endorsed her. The National GOP gave her the maximum allowable donation. As far as sending in ground troops, the national GOP - if it is run by intelligent people - should be prioritizing its limited number of operatives along the following two lines: (1) whether or not the margin in the race is close enough that incremental assistance would push it the right way, (2) whether or not the local campaign is well-funded or whether it is in desperate need of resources.

O'Donnell trailed deeply in the polls and yet she was one of the most well-funded candidates nationally.

She met neither of the rational criteria.

The blame doesn’t lie with O’Donnel. The blame lies with the GOP establishment that has refused to live up to their side of the political party bargain.

What is the number one thing that the national GOP is good at in local campaigns? I'll tell you: GOTV.

In a marginal race this is essential and this is where the national GOP shines.

In DE, GOP turnout will be the strongest it's possibly ever been - O'Donnell doesn't need any help in that category.

The problem with DE is that 47% of DE registered voters are Democrats and 29% are GOP.

Even the most sterling GOP GOTV campaign is useless unless one Democrat or independent votes GOP for every GOP voter who turns out in DE.

And it's up to the candidate to win that crossover vote.

If the national GOP could do it, GOP registrations would have been higher to begin with.

Occam’s razor! I choose the TV station being at fault because it offers less variables. This was a political effort by a TV station to suppress free speech, one that should but never will be punished.

You don’t “forget” to air a 30 minuted commercial twice.

And sooo... what’s new? All campaigns are run with some amount of incompetence. See McCain 08... surely, you can come up with something better than a TGOTO...

FCC should take their license for this travesty.

How do you figure that this is her fault?

When your campaign fails to execute on the same very basic responsibility three times in a row, the candidate has fallen down on the job.

When the ad failed to run for the second time at the 10:00 slot, there should have been a team of angry and litigious O'Donnell staffers and volunteers in the TV station offices demanding and confirming that the 3:00 spot would run.

Instead, her campaign's response is: "It didn't get done. We don't know why. Maybe they forgot."

Am I going to vote for someone who is basically saying: "the dog ate my homework"?

Interesting that the two Senate races that should have been easier to manage seem to have been poorly managed.

Delaware.... 885,000 pop
Alaska.... .... 698,000 pop, but AK is not concentrated like DE

Something does smell here. I recently read that infomercials are now the lifeblood of TV ad revenues. Somebody didn't just accidentally miss it.

How could they “forget” to air it the 2nd time? If you were a campaign worker responsible for the ad getting aired, after the FIRST time they “forgot”, wouldn’t you be camped out AT THE STATION to ensure they aired it the 2nd time?

"Sue them so they have nothing left"

If it's a "Public Broadcast Station", which is simply a mouthpiece fot the DNC, such as NPR is, then suing them merely takes taxpayers' money, as that's how they get funding in part. You would just have more "Appropriations" sent their way from "the government", aka, your wallet.

I’ve been in broadcasting and no one forgot to run it.

Vivian Schiller or the station manager told them not do so. Perhaps a call from the White house did the trick.

It is also possible that the Philly stations got calls on this subject too. I have not seen a total shutout like before as most stations will lean over backward to accomodate politicians.

NPR needs to have all funding from the Feds ended. No ramp down to keep them going until they figure out how to run a private station, no time to adjust, just suddenly...no money.

Not one more dime.

Yes, both of their State Republican Parties are in terrible disarray.
Delaware most.

The only GOP republican name in DE who has supported her is Pete DuPont. Shameful.

A NCC resident asked me last week if O'Donnell was indeed the GOP nominee in Delaware.

She and her novice staff have done a good job of getting her name recognition under the circumstances.

Good observation.

BTW, the 2000 census for DE was 784,000 and the current estimate is 885,000.

That's 13% population growth in one decade.

Something is awry there: it's not as if DE has a particularly high birth rate, or that Wilmington and Philadelphia have been hubs of job growth at any point in the last decade.

Well D-Day is upon us and the tale will be told by late tomorrow evening except for AK and HI I guess. One of the NW states I think has to hand count because of mail ballots but basically we should know who won/lost in all the rest. Maybe a recount or two will be looming also. Then its full steam ahead towards 2012 with the early primaries only about 14 months out.
