Isn't Sheriff Dupnik Providing Loughner A Defense?
Vanity

Posted on 01/09/2011 7:48:51 PM PST by Williams

Sheriff Dupnik is insisting that Sharon Angle and Sarah Palin incited this shooting, while also admitting he has no evidence of Loughner's motive as yet. I just heard him say both to Geraldo Rivera on Fox.

Dupnik has no evidence to support his "opinion" and Loughner is more likely a leftist than conservative. But isn't the sheriff's irresponsibility extending to jeopardizing the case and handing Loughner a variety of defenses?

First of all, the Sheriff keeps saying Loughner is a seriously disturbed individual. That alone is giving credence to an insanity defense. Next, Dupnick is stating that such disturbed individuals are more susceptible to hateful political rhetoric. Finally, he is very specific that he has no doubt statements by Sharon Angle and the website associated with Sarah Palin had such an effect in this case.

This is an extraordinary spectacle. The Sheriff is saying Loughner is crazy, and he is attributing Loughner going over the edge to specific politicians' statements.

This amounts to suggesting Loughner is not responsible for his own actions. It also suggests a political defense to be used by Loughner's attorney.

For the chief local law enforcement officer to be politicizing a killing within the first 24 hours, and to be suggesting the likely defense available to the murderer is truly incredible.

Whether or not the defense succeeds, is there any chance Loughner's attorey won't consider following the sheriff's lead? If she does, she knows Sheriff Dupnik has laid the groundwork with the public. The Internet now is full of postings attributing the killings to republican politicians. Certainly some members of a jury will be influenced by statements being made by Dupnik, Dick Durbin, and other prominent politicians.

Is there a mechanism for Dupnik to be removed from office? Just his comments about Loughner's mental state seem to be at variance with his proper role in amassing evidence for a succesful prosecution. For him to be injecting the Sharon Angle/ Harry Reid senate race into the first day ofthe investigation is wildly partisan and not related to law enforcement.

There should be an investigation into whether Sheriff Dupnik is in contact with democrat politicians, and whether politicians are suggesting or encouraging his partisan pronouncements.

While I lack some faith in the Obama Justice Department, it seems the FBI Director acted quickly to take the investigation out of Dupnik's hands. At the moment of that announcement, Dupnik was preparing to "perp walk" Dupnik in public before reporters. That was stopped when the feds took over. One can imagine the spectacle of Loughner in public within hours of the shooting, and what if Loughner had himself been killed in a Jack Ruby type revenge attack?

Sheriff Dupnik should be removed from office if a legal mechanism exists for such action, and an investigation launched into his outlandish interference with an assassination attempt and mass murder case in the first hours following the shooting.

I don’t think the sheriff is inciting a national debate against conservatives all by his lonesome. He is being echoed now by democrat politicians nationwide. Even if they are just reacting and encouraging him, this is an outrageous missuse of his role in law enforcement.

There is a Politico article posted now, that some of the shgeriff’s remarks are jeopardizing teh federal prosecution of Loughner.

We have the spectacle of a sheriff at a news conference saying he can’t reveal certain evidence, and he doesn’t know certain facts yet, as if being careful. In the next breath the same sheriff declares he is “certain” that Sharon Angle’s senate campaign in Nevada played a role in triggering this killing.

My email to the Sheriff

Actual Topic: Sheriff’s News Conference Yesterday

Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik

I think people such as yourself need to remember when you are so intent on blaming what voters have said as the cause for this tragedy, why not mention the rhetoric from Democrat politicians and liberal talking heads including:

President Obama:

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said in Philadelphia last night. “Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

And “I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face.”

Or John Kerry who said on the Bill Maher show: “I could have gone to 1600 Pennsylvania and killed the real bird with one stone.”

Or Howard Dean “I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for…”

and: “This is a struggle between good and evil and we’re the good?”

and “we need to remember that the enemy here is George Bush, not each other.”

Or Senator Chuck Schumer who called a flight attendant a “bitch.”

Or the Florida Democrats who ran an ad calling for the assassination of Donald Rumsfeld

Or New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi who called for Senator Schumer to “put a bullet between the president’s eyes?”

Or Jonathan Chait who said “I hate President George W. Bush.”

Or singer Rickie Lee Jones who aid of President Bush “You’re an ignorant, low-class, opportunistic man, both personally and politically, who does everything for political gain and nothing for the wellbeing of the people, and you should not be in office, and the kind of fascism you’re perpetrating on our country we don’t want, and you’re out. We’re done with you. Ffffhgggmm.”

And when asked if she would be willing to take Bush out for the benefit of democracy? “If I say that, I might get arrested when I go back. And I have to go home.” She’s thinking it out carefully. “I guess the question is, would I kill anyone? And the answer is, no. But would I feel sorry if someone killed him? No, I wouldn’t. It would depend on who killed him, I guess.”

Or “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” where they superimposed the words “Snipers Wanted” over an image of Bush delivering his acceptance speech at the Republican convention.

Or Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams who said she could kill President Bush?

Or Randi Rhodes who joked about killing the President?

Or Reverend Wright who called Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Condoskeeza [sic] Rice.

Or England’s Charlie Brooker who wrote: “On November 2, the entire civilised world will be praying, praying Bush loses. And Sod’s law dictates he’ll probably win, thereby disproving the existence of God once and for all. The world will endure four more years of idiocy, arrogance and unwarranted bloodshed, with no benevolent deity to watch over and save us. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr – where are you now that we need you?”

The left would rather give Loughner a defense and see him go free to shoot another Dem pol than lose this opportunity to smear the right. They are that unhinged and that power thirsty.

He is your typical left-right wind political cop, only looking for excuses to kill people and get to the “little girls” he wants to “protect”.

It’s porn rape watching pedophile cops like these we will have to deal with when they take the first amendment out through their AlQaeada rhetoric of finding excuses against Israel to get us bombed. Poetic justice will bear its fruits on this fruit cake.

The Saudis say just as much in their guilt of cowardice and perversion. It’s the same muslim garbing mentality. They just love what works in the minds of little virgins and crazy liberals for the sake of their unbridled power and lusts to satisfy ultimately.

So, say it again, Sheriff:

“First of all, the Sheriff keeps saying Loughner is a seriously disturbed individual. “

Excellent compilation. Far from exhaustive though as I’m sure you know.

it looks to me like the sheriff is trying to deflect blame from his office’s ability (or non ability) to protect one of his citizens from a guy who was a known problem...

A liberal freak show is their religion. They are not people capable of repent, per say, because, for reasons of upping their morale, the only thing tying them together in these treacheries, they need to treat every perverted, evil, kanniving, voyeuristic, hypocritical, greedy, callous and wanton mind of theirs through a sort of crystalizing their behaviors as a philosophy (coming out of the closet but not until they get to dominate).

Hence we have judges, actors etc... all trying to fish and find excuses in their various “studies” for being accepted for the freaks they are. It’s part of the morale building and propping plans the tax payers keep having to pay for their “feel good” interests. Cut the budget of these stupid programs, and the suicide rate in America will go way up.

We need a budget of a moderate size specificaly dedicated to the dissolution of these kinds of people, so the government can keep functioning and business can keep going.

He needs to shut his fat trap and stop spouting off his personal opinions on the subject. That’s not the job he’s paid to do. If he has credible evidence of people making threats against others, then go arrest them. Otherwise crawl back in your little rat hole.

"Why wasn’t Jared Loughner cited for making threats if he possessed a gun and the Sheriff’s office knew it?"

Gun-grabber Dupe-nik complains that Loughner was able to legally carry a gun and wants more laws, when the problem is that the laws on the books weren't enforced.......by Dupe-nik.
