The Republican race to get the 2012 nomination has barely begun, yet it already has its fair share of casualties who have fallen by the wayside.
First, there was Haley Barbour, the good ol' boy Mississippi governor, who was widely expected to run even by his own staff right up until the moment he pulled out. Then, Donald Trump's bizarre campaign fired itself. Finally, Mike Huckabee, who topped a lot of Republican polls and was favourite to win Iowa, declared: "All the factors say go, but my heart says no."
Which leads one to wonder: who might be next to take a dive and pull out before they even get in?
Sarah Palin looks a good bet.

How about I watch and wait for excuses instead?
I can hear them now:
Carl Rove was against her!
The RINO's were against her!
The MSN wouldn't give her a chance!
The media wouldn't let her get her message out!
Yes...it will HAVE to be the fault of someone else.
Certainly her impending failure could not be her own.
She should challenge 0bama to an MMA fight. All pay-per-view dollars would go to the winner’s favorite charity. You know he’d chicken out. If not, she’d mop the floor with his scrawny effeminate hide. Heck, she might even field dress his carcass in the cage.
No disagreement there.
Very well said!
Even some of my democrat voting relatives are wanting to cast a vote for Palin. Not only to vote Obama out, but, also because they actually like Palin.
So tell me what is so attractive about Obama.
Well thanks, sergeant dave...
I agree completely. I want to take issue with Levin on this, whom I love and respect very much, but he is wrong on Christie.
If the goal is to beat Obama in an election, then we must have a fighter. Which wing of the party that fighter comes from is less of a concern than how well he/ she fights, and the quality of their leadership skills.
GWB was by no means a pure conservative, but he was a damn strong leader, and I swear I’d vote for him again right now even knowing the mistakes he made.
In contrast, I believe Michelle Bachmann is a great conservative, a fine person, and a fine rep, but I do not believe she has the skills to defeat Obama in an election. She does not have the charisma to galvanize conservatives, who appear very factional to me.
What does galvanize conservatives is a leader and a fighter, a person we can respect and follow into battle. This is what we must find. It is paramount.
Then in 16 or 20 turn the big house over to her. I won’t be around to see it but will celebrate none the less!!!
Two things:
1. I pray to God that you are here to see it.
2. Regardless I am so impressed that you are looking out for the United States and might not even be here to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Thank you so much for that and what you do here. It is very important. You deserve to be here in 2016 AND 2020!!!!!
ricky perry of texas will be getting into the race, and Sarah Cuda will later be chosen VP. Can yall say Perry/Palin 2012 !!!!!!!!!
A few things.....One Palin said she would not be VP again. Second, Perry cannot get my vote since he passed that “have sex” shot to 12 year old girls. Why would we want that type of person as our President. We as a country still need a President with morals regardless if we have that President now or not.
If Palin was not going to run she would have honorably said so already. She would not screw the potential field by leaving it unsaid.
In June 1999, while Governor of Texas, Bush announced his candidacy for President of the United State
Perry and Palin are close. Apparently she has no problem with Rick Perry.
Her relevancy in general would drop if she decides not to run. Getting 400,000 of your financial supporters all hot and bothered, then sending them home to a cold shower by not running, will definitely ding her credibility.
So how's Boss Barbour doing these days?
They're not THAT close...
Can yall say Perry/Palin 2012 !!!!!!!!!
The P P ticket. Good Lord, help us all.
Current polls, the woman has 98% name id and 18% support. The answer is not going to run and cannot win. For you people from California, that is the same thing as saying 82% of the republican voters want someone else.
June of the year prior to a presidential election is when many major candidates announce formally with a big campaign event. They form “exploratory” committees prior to then for the purpose of putting together an organization and fund-raising apparatus, lining up key supporters in primary states, getting a ground game up and running, and so on. All of that needs to be in place by the time of the formal announcement/kick-off event so that the actual campaign can get off to a running start.
Candidates like Pawlenty, who lack national name recognition, start the process earlier precisely to raise awareness. Candidates with name recognition can start a little later, but not much, because key people in the states will have already committed to other campaigns.
