A remarkable thing has happened on the way to the supercommittee deadline: Republicans are beating the we-want-more-revenue drum.
No, congressional Republicans havent taken up the mantle of tax increases, but as the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction lurches toward its Nov. 23 deadline to cut $1.2 trillion from the nations deficit, GOP lawmakers are talking a lot about how to raise revenue and still stick to their no-tax-increase pledge.

"More revenue" means more taxes. These weasels can try to spin it any way they wish, but the bottom line is that these Republicans are agreeing to remove money from the private sector and transfer it to Obama's lackeys.
Is this what you voted for in 2010?
I searched and didn’t see this posted.
Boehner and Cantor are liars.
You can raise revenue by increasing the margin (taxes) or by increasing volume (jobs). Get the Federal boot off of the neck of the private sector and the latter will happen. Get rid of Obama, Obamacare, and slap the EPA out of the equation, and things will pick up nicely.
Translation: They're talking about how to blow smoke up our ass.
tax and spend. That’s all politicians know...That and grabbing as much as they can for themselves.
I think it really depends on what is meant by revenues. Some have suggested selling off federal properties....that is putting capital back in the private sector without raising taxes.
Perhaps increasing the price foreign nations pay for American services would be another way of increasing revenues without dipping into our pockets.
Let’s see the proposals first.
Want to increase revenue? DROP the tax rate!
Do you pay no federal income taxes??? Shame if so.
Do you pay no federal income taxes??? Shame if so.
Do you pay no federal income taxes??? Shame if so.
Do you pay no federal income taxes??? Shame if so.
NEWBIE ALERT!!!! Mind your manners....they are NOT liars....Rates will be reduced and taxes MUST be broadened to tax some of the 47% that PAY NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES!!
For example, if more federal lands is available for drilling leases, that means more revenues. Is that more taxes? No.
Democrats mean taxes, Republicans mean revenues.
Gee, now there’s a shocker. I didn’t see that one coming./s
This is EXACTLY what we voted for in 2010 and will again in 2012. Get it through our thick heads, anybody running for a public office is a liar! We are like Charley Brown to their Lucy. They will say anything to get elected and then. pulling the football away, do what they want once in office.
This is not going to change, as long as we play THEIR game. The solution comes from a movie called “Brewster’s Millions”, where Brewster (Richard Pryor) tells everybody to vote “None of the above” and “None of the above” wins.
I don't know about that. You're mighty quick to call them down though.
Lots and lots of ways revenue can increase in ways that make sense.
The primary strategy is to lower rates on those who pay while increasing rates on those who currently do not pay income tax.
Duh.
Selling assets - land, licenses, etc. isn’t caving it’s generating revenue and reducing the size/scope of government at the same time. A win-win situation if there ever was one.

You really believe that?
You guys are a little quick on the trigger. They are talking about lowering tax rates and enacting things that will get the economy going. That will increase revenue. They are not talking about rising taxes.
