Every now and then you come across an article that folks just need to read. This one written by Michael Smith entitled, “Confessions of a Public Defender” and originally posted at American Renaissance on May 9, 2014 is one of those articles.
It is a profound and deeply disturbing piece, which, as we end 2014, we all need to comprehend as we move towards the 50th anniversary of the Great Society initiatives of President Lyndon Baines Johnson.
Smith articulates that which ails the black community — the real discussion we should be having on race, not that of victimhood and the further expansion of the welfare nanny-state.
He begins by saying, “I am a public defender in a large southern metropolitan area. Fewer than ten percent of the people in the area I serve are black but over 90 per cent of my clients are black. The remaining ten percent are mainly Hispanics but there are a few whites.”
“I have no explanation for why this is, but crime has racial patterns. Hispanics usually commit two kinds of crime: sexual assault on children and driving under the influence. Blacks commit many violent crimes but very few sex crimes. The handful of whites I see commit all kinds of crimes. In my many years as a public defender I have represented only three Asians, and one was half black.”
He presents his observations based on his personal experience with black defendants, and his words will no doubt inflame many:
My experience has also taught me that blacks are different by almost any measure to all other people. They cannot reason as well. They cannot communicate as well. They cannot control their impulses as well. They are a threat to all who cross their paths, black and non-black alike.
It will take you only 5 minutes to read this article — and I would bet you’ll read it again. Then ask yourself, is this something you hear Al Sharpton addressing? Or President Obama, Eric Holder, Jeh Johnson or Jesse Jackson?
I’m quite sure the progressive socialist left will criticize me for sharing this article – that’s just who they are – they hate the truth. But if there is a war to be fought, it is for the soul of the inner city and the black community. The facts and observations in this are not shocking to me. They are quite well known, but the manner in which the writer so eloquently presents them is quite commendable.
We cannot begin to “have a conversation about race” until we are willing to honestly address the facts.
As Smith says at the end, “I do know that it is wrong to deceive the public. Whatever solutions we seek should be based on the truth rather than what we would prefer was the truth.”

It is not necessary to look 100 years in the past. Look at the African continent today!

They are from all over the US and various levels of background income.
Culture only comes into play with some in that they can not stay at their work area, constant loud casual conversation, calling in late one to two times a week, etc.
Makes for a pretty high turnover. They seem to think six to twelve months from company to company is normal.

Well... that was in the article, and part of what I was saying.
The 90% that were black were his customers because they were facing criminal charges. So... 100% of the blacks he has come into contact with through his job are alleged criminals.
That is what he based his comment on. Which would give one a very biased opinion of 'blacks'. Is this not true ?
While I might disagree with 'small, distinct, non-representative subset', it was the author who claims the BASIS for his statement comes from his associations with alleged criminals. He even mentioned the particular crimes they would likely commit, by race. That would seem to exclude victims/family/friends.

I speak for myself but I am mixed mostly black and I work in the IT field and one of my first positions was working at the NMCI help desk in Norfolk, VA which I worked for 9 months which was pure hell suffering at the hands of Hewlett Packard long story short. My call time, PAR, and first time call resolution were awesome coming out of mandatory training, around I would say 85% of my tickets were closed overall, and my average call time was was 8 to 13 mins each day with about 40+ calls a day (PAR time was 15 mins) and got so good I went to Tier 2 night shift support after 3 months.
I later left the job for it was sucking and I was not learning much plus the low pay (12.50) was not cutting it so left that for the current position I have now working in NH after having to move here on my own dime for full benefits and pay which I can clear around 53k before taxes.

He also gave his view, which also seemed reasonable, of Asian and White 'criminal types', and it was against those types that he compared the Blacks.
I understand that. Still, his view of black criminal types do not apply to ALL blacks any more than his view of white criminal types applies to ALL whites.
If it proves anything, it shows that despite all the evidence and even personal experience, Liberals who remain Liberals never learn...
I am a liberal. I believe that those of us who are able to produce abundance have a moral duty to provide basic food, shelter, and medical care for those who cannot care for themselves. I believe we have this duty even to those who can care for themselves but don’t. This world view requires compassion and a willingness to act on it.
His main point, that Black behavior is quite different than white behavior, as posters up thread have pointed out, isn’t confined to the criminal group.
As an example; there is a car parked in front of Wal-Mart, waiting while someone goes in to pick something up, others have to make their way around this vehicle. The shopper strolls out, gets in, maybe even in the drivers seat, and they drive away.
Identify the occupants.
The writer of the column did, as can most Freepers.

What the author of the article at the beginning of this thread is saying, in essence, “Forget the old stereotypes, they understate the issue, and here is some circumstantial evidence to prove that assertion”.

There is an interesting phenomenon which occurs on FR, and it’s one that helps identify posters within two heartbeats.
Most posters who use the name of Ronald Reagan in some fashion, as you have done, are nothing like Reagan.
