The entertainment and news media are promoting a most dangerous trend.

Hollywood and the media have been behind the prolific tightening of copyright laws that are intended to tighten their control and enhance profits and propaganda capability while muzzling news.

They intend to copyright the English language and Facebook intends to copyright your life.

They (Google etc) currently manipulate and eliminate derogatory search results for their friends, of which is essentially manipulating history.

They fraudulently charge concert goers huge ticket prices only to listen to a deceptive lip synched recording.

If this is how the internet will be, I’ll completely quit. Think it can’t happen? It did with cable TV.

I've always thought Washington has feared the internet.

Linking millions of people together...

Linking like minded folks together....

What if millions joined together to not pay income taxes?

What if millions of people stopped working for a week?

The people in power fear this....

I'm not surprised..that they are fighting to stop linking.

We are going to be in a big fight down this road........

Why worry. I won't read the New York Times even if a website links it for free. If the large news companies think they will earn more if independents like Drudge don't link to them, they had better pray that readers are willing to pay. They can get more from advertisers by having independents link to them giving them more hits.

All this will do is reshape the production of news. Small independents will welcome the income from Drudge like sites. The small independents will prosper and the old media will rot.

Drudge posts only links and a bare-bones synopsis of the subject matter - how can that be a copyright violation? He is actually directing people TO the various websites, giving them free publicity and increasing their “hits”.
