Just before the 08 crash, I was getting some tires. A guy was there, too, getting some. He wanted his spinners used. He was in his 50s and bragged about working a GM job with overtime and how he got a new car every three years. But he loved his spinners.

I take him seriously already...Who in the running would know more about how to change the system to benefit the U.S.??? He knows exactly why he's offshoring...He knows exactly what it would take to get his companies into America...

Bingo. That's a very big part of it.

The other big factor is that the transportation costs for the factory in China only put it at a competitive disadvantage against a U.S. factory for products that are shipped to the U.S.

For products that are shipped elsewhere around the world -- and this part of their customer base is growing much faster than the U.S. customer base -- the U.S. doesn't really have a competitive advantage over China.

Cruz has solid plans for bringing back manufacturing:

1. The Cruz tax plan is unique because of how it taxes business who engage in imports. That means manufacturing has powerful incentives for being within the United States. This is far better than protectionism or tariffs that hurt the consumer and lead to trade wars— that further hurt our manufacturing.

2. A solid energy plan like Cruz’s is key. Energy is a key cost for manufacturers. Texas is leading the way to more manufacturing by way of cheap energy. Our fracking innovations have made natural gas cheaper than ever. This creates industry here at home and makes energy costs lower than China. That attracts manufacturing.

States like Texas prove that we can restore manufacturing to America.

Other nations cannot compete with out innovation. Beating the Federal government in the courts on EPA actions kept Texas free and strong.

The energy side of this is very big. For some products shipped to customers here in the U.S., it’s actually getting cheaper to manufacture them in Alabama and South Carolina than in China — and reliable, low-cost energy is a big factor in this.

and yet he criticizes other companies for doing what he is doing. for instance, trump slammed oreos for outsourcing to mexico said he wouldn’t eat another oreo. how does that rhetoric show trump knows how to bring companies back to America...it doesn’t

A major Japanese car maker has opened a huge plant. I know someone in the deal. It employs 2 people.

I can believe that...

“The key was NAFTA. That started the wholesale loss.”

The NAFTA agreement is over 1700 pages long. The WTO agreements require over 30,000 pages. The proposed TPP agreement is 5544 pages long.

How could any agreements requiring thousands of pages to document have anything to do with freedom or free trade?

90% of manufacturing workers are non union. 90%

That's the case now...And most of those non union manufacturing jobs are subsidized with food stamps due to the low wages...The standard of living has dropped substantially...

Interestingly, when there was a large union presence in the workforce, the non union shops paid well generally speaking to compete for the workers in the union shops...

I am not advocating bringing back the unions...I am advocating for good paying non union jobs...

When you can’t make a decent profit otherwise. If you are a company with stockholders, you’ll go down the tubes pretty quickly when your stock price continues to drop or no dividends are paid.
