Substitute “ Colin Powell” for “ Bush”
Trump isn’t the first president to let generals make decsions
He just has better generals

Those of us who are Vets know this all too well. As was evidenced in WWII, the troops respect a leader who will get in your face when you screw up. Especially one who has already done his three cups of coffee and a cigar or two and really doesn’t care if you like it or not. Actually, he is really afraid of only the ones who do like it.

Patton was such a model of what we almost have in Mattis. Seeing Trump yesterday address the MOAB authorization decisions made me almost swoon with joy knowing he is letting the Generals make the important combat decisions while just letting him know what they are doing.

I think Obama’s doctrine was to always keep in mind that historically America is usually in the wrong and should act with head bowed and hands tied in international and especially military situations.

Those wounds would be grievous enough in the best circumstances, but they’re compounded by the fact that many of the decisions not to shoot, not to use artillery, or not to drop bombs were based on a combination of rules of engagement and military misjudgments that were transparently foolish TREASONOUS at the time.

The Obama doctrine was to leave the enemy alone and give them lotsa money besides.....for years. Maybe time to stop the funding.

IIRC, Afghanistan is a UN mission.

The surprise tactic is key too. It puts the fear of god in the enemy as they never know when a MOAB is going to come knocking. And it doesn’t give the media and the activist left any time to ramp up a campaign and talking points against the strategy.

Yep - I remember them testing the MOAB during Bush years and saying it could be used to clear mine fields too - Trump is the first President who thinks winning is a good thing since Reagan.

The sooner the members of the Traitorobama regime are indicted, tried, convicted, sentenced, and publicly hanged for giving aid and comfort to the enemy, the better off this nation will be.

I have nothing but contempt for the idiots who gave us eight years of Obama.

It has been said that a nation can survive an occasional fool like Obama or Carter bungling about, but a nation cannot survive having a majority of the electorate being so stupid as to re-elect such a buffoon.

I do not understand today’s leaders. If you go to war make sure the enemy loses their lives not ours. It should be all out or nothing at all.

Obama’s restrictive rules of engagement have resulted in the maiming and death of too many of our military men - it is pleasing to finally have a president who trusts our military leadership to use their best judgement and discretion to carry out the Commander’s Intent and complete the mission.

This idea of the laws of ware is insane. The only law should be total victory in whatever form that needs to take.

The idea that civilians are not legitimate military targets simply is absurd. Where does the army of the opposition come from and where do they gain support?

Back then the press was heavily Republican and very anti-Truman. I just finished reading his biography and to my surprise he reflects upon the press as Trump does today!

We sure didn’t worry about civilians in Dresden or Japan.

Seems like laws of war are mostly a Christian thing. Once there were Christian cultures willing to war on one another, what role would Christian values play? Ironic, isn’t it, that today’s laws of war are just another form of cultural imperialism?

The OT did prescribe laws of war for Jews, even against pagans, but God did explicitly suspend most of them for moral outrage. There is no indication however, that such laws applied outside of the Land of Israel, or that there was permission to suspend them anytime in the future.
