When it comes to “global temperature data sets” I have always reached for some strong adult beverages before, during, and after reading any conclusions drawn from them.
Why?
First, the data collection points, i.e. weather stations, are NOT evenly distributed across the globe. Don’t think there is much on the ground reporting from sites along the Trans Siberian railroad or Central Gobi Desert do you?
Second, I doubt that any of the temperature recording devices have been initially calibrated to the nearest 1/10th degree C. Nor, have they been maintained with regular recalibrations.
Third, There was no need to report and record temperatures with any degree of accuracy until the age of flight, the mid 1930s. Only then did accurate temperature readings become, potentially, a mater of life or death.
Fourth, I am still waiting to see ice bergs in the Gulf of Mexico as breathlessly reported in the early 1970s. This was supposed to happen because all temperature records then available pointed to a severe cooling trend.
Snopes is a really bad source to cite, A Soros funded site run by an embezzler and a prostitute. Citing to it is a fail. Its why it exists is to to trick leftists.

Earth climate and changes are dependent on Sun’s and Sunspots activity supplying 99.99% of energy. Humans can do schit about it.

Heat island effect?
Its never mentioned; but a very simple explanation for any temp measurements that show increases.
A week I drove out 40 miles from the metro area that I live in in the evening. Out in the country temps were 7 degrees cooler; coming back in they went up again.
I notice this every time I get out in the country.
Temperature measuring stations have been surrounding by millions of yards on concrete and asphalt the past few decades. And shingled roofs.
To say this doesn’t affect the temps measured is ludicrous on a very basic level.
Its on multiple sources I choose that one just to see if you were a liberal - since only liberals cite Snopes and then attack any non-liberal source under the Alinsky rules. You failed twice.

Who is surprised that NASA fudged the raw temperature data. We have known this for many years now. Worse, they have moved the ground data collection stations to hotter locations to make it look like the air got hotter at that station. That is useless if you don’t leave the station in the same place.
I am just glad that the Trump era is rapidly exposing the truth. Keep it up. There is only a small window to expose this hoax before we get another commie Rat president committed to supporting AGW.

The thing about Phoenix in particular is that there is a well-studied heat island effect with numerous scientific papers written about it. The people who wrap themselves in the mantle of science never like to mention that science however.

It's true that the debate over global surface temperatures is red herring, a false controversy as you say in the later comment. However the idea that these men are "deniers" is a similar red herring. There is legimate scientific debate over models, predictions, 1930's temperature measurements, etc. Lumping it together as denial is a cop-out no matter which side does the lumping.
Interestingly enough, there were many more data collection points during the Cold War. The Soviets did lots of measurements in Siberia and elsewhere. Other countries did too. But as the old Soviet Union collapsed the weather recording was abandoned for the most part, except, in particular, in big cities. Thus the Siberian temperature trend started going way up. Not just because Siberia got warmer, it did, verified by satellite. But also because the cities warmed faster than the prior small town and rural stations. So part of "global warming" is an artificial warming trend due to loss of temperature recording at smaller population centers.
It's true. But there's also a disinformation campaign that many people here fall for. For example there are often posts about how volcanoes contribute to climate, there is one on this thread, although it is vague and useless.
The simple fact is that aside from cooling from major eruptions, volcanoes to not contribute to climate. They certainly are not a factor in the rise of CO2, that rise is manmade, and not a legitimate scientific controversy.
So yes, there is controversy, often injected by people who want other people to look stupid. But on the other hand, there is substantial scientific evidence that the US was warmer in the 1930's. The keepers of GAST say it was cooler, but that is due to their adjustments. At the very least it is unresolved and a legitimate case of scientific controversy.
That shows some very interesting stats, quite telling is what is missing, such as the 1940’s and limited records in the 70’s and 80’s and none in the 2000’s.
What I find most interesting is that, despite high’s in Phoenix at 122, no records are shown from 29 Palms in California. I have been there when the temps were over 130.
I would disagree that you were forced to. more likely you were seated and chose to stay seated in the theater for it rather than walking out/remove yourself for a minute or two.
