TOKYO - North Korea on Sunday claimed a "perfect success" for its most powerful nuclear test so far, a further step in the development of weapons capable of striking anywhere in the United States. President Donald Trump, asked if he would attack the North, said, "We'll see."
The latest provocation from the isolated communist country reinforces the danger facing America, Trump had said earlier in a series of tweets, adding that "talk of appeasement" is pointless.
"They only understand one thing!" Trump wrote, without elaboration, as he prepared to meet later with his national security team. It was the first nuclear test since Trump took office in January.
Hours later, after attending church in Washington, the president made his "We'll see" comment in response to a question from reporters.

I advocate for a pre-emptive strike against Norklandia.
That strike should include, at least, tactical nuclear bunker busters.
And we should ensure the entire world knows that we will engage in existential war with anyone who tries to stop us.
Because Norklandia nukes and missiles are an existential threat to the USA. And they are being wielded by a madman, in an insane regime who constantly threatens our annihilation.
What happens when he confirmably MIRV’s his thermonukes..?
I really don’t think deterrance would work the same with Norklandia.
In fact..?
It might not work AT ALL.
Waiting to find out is....a bad idea.
Time to move another division’s division artillery to the DMZ, add another THAAD, send an Aegis destroyer and mobilize the 82nd Airborne.
Think not of what the left thinks. We already know. Hindsight will always be 20-20. Was Viet Nam worth it? GIVING Iraq to Iran? I think Pat Buchanan might have it right. What does it gain us?
Boxed in, NK has several targets in mind and will play the MAD game. Seoul and other parts of SK are a concern in the mediate, however targeting the Takahama nuclear power plant would create more wide-spread destruction, (All without firing a nuke). NK can hit that with ease if they sense any type of attack coming.
No bomb can achieve what a tweet can. /s
Should a pre-emptive strike and the potential commitment of 10s of thousands of US troops be something debated by the people’s representatives in Congress as opposed to the decision of a single person?
Send a cruise missile over the Capital with leaflets “we will feed you like an American” over throw the oppressors of the people! That would be a wake up call little Kim can understand.
Don’t spoil the surprise.
Congress long ago ceded debate on matters of war to the executive.
And wrongly so.
POTUS can do whatever he pleases for 60 days according to the War Powers Resolution. All he has to do is inform the top 8 members and cite imminent threat.
Making the case for “Imminent threat” is easy in this case.
In strategic war, 60 days is beyond forever.
You assume they have a missile that can get through the shield and hit with enough power and accuracy to cause a melt in the containment vessel.
Nay, their deterrent is a nuke on Seoul. And they count on the South refusing the US permission.
What they do not realize is the US will put its interests above that of the South, or even Japan, and strike hard and quick.
We must eliminate the threat to the US.
There is little or no point to a preemptive strike that doesn’t result in the unification of Korea.
If they decide to go, they must go all the way.
American leaders should have acted long ago, when the Norks were just getting started. The lesson of Neville Chamberlain was never learned by the Bushes, Clinton & Obama. Appeasement with a mad megalomaniac has never worked and never will.
My take on Kim Un is he loves to push the envelope, but is not exactly suicidal. He likes eating and drinking too much to commit suicide. I am betting on him NOT launching weaponized rockets towards US and it’s allies. He is playing the same game the Norks have played for decades, which is to threaten crazy actions and get all sorts of aid and concessions from USA.
True, kicked the can awhile ago, now this/next generation has to deal with a rogue nuke State. Of course you are going to be called an “isolationists” because you defy the sanctions/Chamberlain approach.
Once the missles fly, the war’s over. All you can do is make peace with God.
Headline: "Trump starts nuclear war!"
I’d opt for carpet bombing using B1B Lancers, BUFFs., and clean up with KC130s and Cobras.
