Pocatello Fred Meyer sells 1 gallon of whole or 2% milk for $1.79 today. Cost of living here is hard to beat.

I agree with that sentiment...bottom line, I don’t eat enough butter to adversely affect my health in any significant way.

What, on my death bed, will I say “I should have eaten butter instead...it just tastes better...”?

No thanks...I'll stick to the real thing.I'll leave the artificial stuff to the vegans who, curiously, almost always look like they had just been freed from a North Korean reeducation camp.

Bring your own glass jugs and its $2.00/gal at the dairy about 7 miles out of town. Straight out of the cow then into the chill tank. Open the spigot for creamy goodness.

...processed food causes cancer.

Worse than that: DEATH!!!

The obits are FULL of folks who have eaten processed food; and NOW look at the results!!!

It ranks right up there with the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide!!!

Milk was $1.18/gallon.

Similar here in Indiana.

I've NO idea how FLA gets away with what they can charge for milk down there!

Milk (regular), (1 gallon), $3.55

There sure isn’t THAT much difference between what the farmers get for their raw milk at the dairy!

SOMETHING is being price fixed somewhere!!

LOL! Yeah, pretty much!

She also produces fertilizer for the garden and an offspring who turns grass into beef.

Well yeah.

Dairy is price fixed by the government and the price, which is set by your local dairy compact, is different from region to region.

There is also the price of energy for processing, the cost of energy for transportation, the wages of those who do the processing, the wages of those who do all the paperwork required by the state and the cost of the food grade resin that they use to blow the bottle.

That last is a big part of the cost of your milk. Anywhere from a third to a half.

Which is why buying milk as two half gallons will cost more then buying it by the gallon.

Now you know far more then you ever wanted to about the pricing of dairy.

NOTHING - imho - justifies a 3 to 1 price difference across regions like this.

Why are there no bootleg milk trucks?

a MUCH greater price differential ‘tween Indiana and Florida for milk than cigarette taxes!!
