Not me. I HATE it when it is pitch dark at 5:00pm. I’m not a morning person. At all. So, I don’t care if the little jerk school kids have to stand in the dark at the school bus in the morning. Heck .. when I was a kid, it was dark in the morning waiting for the bus whether we toyed with the clocks, or not. IMHO, they start school WAY too early, and END it way too early! Kids should be in school from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Most parents (both) work today, and I don’t see ANY reason for kids to be let out at 2:30. Just utter nonsense. Maybe they might learn something if they keep them in class longer. The only downside is more time to indoctrinate their mushy little brains.

Eastern Time Zone: 67.5 W - 82.5 W,
Central Time Zone: 82.5 W - 97.5 W.

Hmm...this would put the Red Wings back in the Central Division. Even Columbus OH at 82.9 W could put the Blue Jackets there too...hopefully Ohio would want the time zone line west of Columbus.

Seattle would have to wait a bit longer for its team, and Quebec City would get back on the front burner for a new franchise.

Exactly, it is not among the enumerated powers in Article 1, Section 8. But I believe current law allows states to exempt themselves.

Personally, if I had my druthers, it would get dark all year at 5 PM. Whenever it gets dark, my wife stops finding shit for me to do. So, if it gets at 9 PM, it gives her up to four more hours to find shit for me to do.

Now I see it, but I’d rather it was left up to the states.

The Rube solving FloriDUH’s most pressing issues.

As a fifth generation Floridian, and with my great grandfather having been the President of the Florida Senate back in the early 1900s, it used to be that a comment like that would have offended me. But as more and more morons from up north and Puerto Rico move in and crowd up my once wonderful state and start to turn it more blue and change the language and the culture, I think you are correct. For the first time in my life, I am thinking of getting the hell out. And that is saying a lot. I'm sick of the flotsam that is coming in! They truly are making MY state "FloriDUH."

IF I recall correctly, during the Jimmie Carter presidency the congress discussed this very thing and decided that during the winter months shorter days that school children would be going to school in the dark. They nixed the idea because of the danger it would’ve presented to the kids having to walk in the dark to get to school. Maybe Rubio should forget shifting to full time daylight saving and work to change to a year round standard time.

Why do they feel the need to make a law on this?

Because there already is a law on this. If the current DST system is to be changed, the law needs to be changed.

I hate DST! Adds nothing! Legislative obscenity!

Standard Time is real time. DST is simply Congress arrogantly thinking it controls the spacetime continuum. Why not pass legislation making it August 24, 1634? Makes as much sense.

Japan is the only industrialized country to NOT have DST.

I’ve lived under both systems and having it is better.

And just how does this issue fit under the 10th Amendment?

Article I, Section 8, Clause 5 says Congress may "fix the Standard of Weights and Measures." DST is part of the federal measuring of time.

The State of Arizona rejects your Daylight Savings Time.

What I find odd with Arizona is how do they get Mountain time zone when their western border is only 163 miles away from the Pacific Ocean?

Zoned time was originally called “railroad time.” Railroads had difficulty calculating train schedules when the minutes part of a time of day didn’t line up everywhere.
