And (of course!) FL attracts eccentrics & free spirits. ... certainly obvious in coastal towns like Lighthouse Point, people with/without homes, with different levels of functioning/coping skills (drugs, alcohol).
That should be coupled with text describing any expressed threat to commit acts of violence, murder or suicide. Never mind gun confiscation, they'll steal a gun or use something else....lock them away.
The Broward-area black Congresswoman who thinks she's a cowboy is at the top of that list of mental defectives....
followed by mayo-head Cong Debbie W/S who represents Broward.
There is not one... not one... of them who I have ever or would ever feel endangered by. Each one of them is among the most sincere and conscientious and respectful and GOOD people you are ever apt to meet in this world.
The vast majority of them, I would have no hesitation at all about letting them own a firearm for personal protection. Except that most of them have been in psychiatric facilities of one sort or another.
It's ironic that the vast majority of people with mental illness have greater appreciation of human life than too many who are "normal".
It isn't an issue of neurobiology. It's an issue about the soul. And idiots like Hogg and Feinstein and Schumer will never understand that it's impossible to fix the soul with more and more legislation.

Here is the section that applies. I assume that if the person is say a convicted felon the firearms would not be returned.

Knew someone who became depressed and suicidal...had a gun..went to clinic for depression...when it was discovered he had a gun...the cops came and took it away...he spent a few days in mental health hospital later....much better...but i think he would have easily killed himself at that time. His family was very worried for him..Big concern is that opposimg political views will be falsely deemed mental illness with forcible disarming. Need rock solid safeguards

That is what I see.
It could be a slippery slope but it’s one we’re going to have to navigate. Something has got to be done to stop these crazy people from doing these deeds. If we can’t localize the inconvenience and denial of rights to crazy people then they are just going to seize all guns.
This is how it starts. Taking the guns from one group makes it easier to take them from others.

Next it will be the elderly. Already established age limit on the young end and they will say elderly are likely to have poor eyesight, poor coordination, deficient mental abilities, tendency to end their own lives, etc. and so justify no guns after 65 y/o and they will want to link it to withholding social security or some other such scheme. Once you limit various groups you are well on your way to nearly total control and each step will sound very reasonable along the way.
I’m all for taking guns from Cruz types who should be in jail to begin with but the problem with these type of laws is you could have your guns taken away simply because the neighborhood busybody complains about you. As others have said it’s a slippery slope.

I've not been able to find it, but MANY years ago I was impressed and saddened by the news account of a criminal who busted down the door of an elderly couple. He was shot and killed by the woman, but not before her husband had been killed.

That said the country owes a great debt to Broward county. Enough idiots there accidentally voted for Buchanon when they were trying to vote for Gore to give Bush Florida. As bad as Bush was think of a President Gore.
Well there is something to be said about having most of your firearms in a safe place where you can take them out and use them with out digging them up every time you want to go to the range or hunting.

And the govt always follows their own laws. Just look at how well they followed fisa.
Until they put serious penalties for govt workers and politicians of they misuse the law they will all be abused.
If we accept even for a second that a person can be guilty of a crime before he commits it we are lost as a free republic. “Odd behavior?” What the hell is that anyway in post-modern society?
