Heineken removes 'Lighter is Better' ad following online racial backlash

Heineken has removed a television ad following a wave of online criticism slamming the commercial as "terribly racist."

In a 30-second ad promoting the beer company’s "Lighter is Better" campaign for its light beer, a bartender slides a bottle of beer past several customers to reach a woman in the distance.

As several people online noticed, during the commercial the beer passes by customers who are darker-skinned while the woman who receives the beer in the end is noticeably fairer-skinned.

Heineken has removed the ad from TV and online rotation and acknowledged that it “missed the mark.”

“For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows there’s more that unites us than divides us,” a spokesperson for Heineken said in an email to NBC News. “While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer, we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns."

Normal people don't notice these things because they aren't looking for any little thing to be offended by. The worst thing about it is, it was probably a bunch of liberal white douchebags who started the complaint.

Now they got to make a “darker is better” version for their dark beers, and watch the complete lack of left-wing outrage.

Is Heineken Light lighter in color than regular Heineken? (I don’t drink either one.) Isn’t the point of light beer not it’s color but that it has fewer calories and less alcohol? That’s how they should sell it. I swear, ad people are dense.

Anyone have thoughts on the Direct TV commercial where this black bitch smugly throws all her white boy friend’s things out the window at him, smashing them on the street below?. I can only think of what a lucky guy he is over the long haul to part ways with that k sooner rather than later.

I enjoyed drinking Heineken. Now that they are giving in to liberal idiocy, I no longer will be drinking it.

The makers of flashdarks are elated that the playing fiel is being leveled. Flashdarks were continuing to lose market share to flashlights.

Great beer CAN unite us. But Heineken isn’t up to that task.

If English teachers in our grade & high schools concentrated more on the education of the language — homonyms, homophones, synonyms, etc. — and not so much on things “homophobic@, perhaps people will be less sensitive. But then again these days, maybe not…

So if a brewer of Lagers started an ad campaign with the phrase 'Darker Is Better" would they piss their pants over that?

Time to get rid of white bread, angel food cake, marshmallow that isn't colored, noodles, spaghetti, cauliflower, white corn, vanilla ice cream, potatoes, crabs, lobster, all white fish, etc. etc. because it might "trigger" some racial snowflake with it's insensitivity!

Heineken should have found their corporate balls and told these idiots to go screw themselves, it's not like they ever did or would make up a perceptible segment of their sales.

Sooner or later the public will get fed up!

WAY later, like thirty years ago.

I no longer give even half a tinker's damn about the 'plight of the black man in America'.

The self-defeating problem with many 'African-Americans' is that they're neither.

There is plenty of ignorance out there, that’s for sure. And it is easily exploited.

I just saw a commercial where a Black chick was throwing a white guy's stuff out the window and the ad said she was moving on to bigger and better things. How racist is that?
