On the heels of President Trump blasting American mega-corporation Amazon over its low tax liability, Sen. Bernard Sanders on Sunday backed up the president and said the companys power and influence in the U.S. economy has grown too large.
The Vermont independent said Amazon, which owns The Washington Post and Whole Foods, produces its own TV shows and films, and reportedly could move into the pharmaceutical sector, is at least partly responsible for the sharp decline in American retail.
Mr. Sanders was asked on CNNs State of the Union program whether he thinks Amazon has gotten too big.
Yeah, I do, he said. This is an issue that has got to be looked at. What were seeing all over this country is the decline in retail. Were seeing this incredibly large company getting involved in almost every area of commerce and I think it is important to look at the power and influence that Amazon has.

Amazon considering buying some of the old Toys R Us locations is telling. Much like Walmart’s increasing focus on internet facilitated sales. And Walmart makes a profit. While Amazon ... not so much.
Well, I, for one, think it’s good that the far left and far right see eye-to-eye about something for a change.
Granted, the far left is so far gone and so incredibly stupid that there’s no chance their brain cells will ever start working properly, but it would be nice if they did wake up and we all realize that most of the country wants the same things - and it’s NOT what those scumbags in both parties in Washington are force feeding us.
I doubt Bernie would really go up against the dispicable globalist Bezos and his venomous mouthpiece aka Washington compost.
Amazon is a monopoly and should be broken up.
There are areas where the left and right agree, freedom and the concentration of power and money with the powerful and wealthy.
Both may not agree philosophically but they both see these issues as bad things.
Amazon makes tons of profits. They just reinvest it. You don’t buy a company every month in 2017 without making a profit.
You know the left is going nuts when they go after their own.
Yeah, sometimes Bernies blindness turns him into a squirrel
I guess Amazon isn’t going to buy Bernie that chalet he has been looking at.
Looks like anymore if you can get a ‘forum’ and want something just publicly gripe about it or ‘threaten’ someone...
HEY it worked for JJ....
As much as I dislike Burnedout Sanders and the left this is one time I have to agree with him.
There is a place very far away from the mainstream where the far left and the far right agree on some things. It’s the part of both extremes that believe in individual freedom and government that protects but doesn’t define us. It doesn’t believe in global war-mongering and does believe in fair play. Bernie Sanders (philosophically, not by a lot of his actions), Dennis Kucinich, probably Sherrod Brown, Rand Paul, and a whole lot of Deplorables and truly religious people dwell there. If only we could get it together and get more decent people elected to office.
Bernie gets it about corruption and abuse of power. He is every once in a while on the correct side of things. Then he slips back down into 1970s communism.
Look, even Trump has said Bernie was right about some stuff on trade. Bernie, like Trump, apparently thinks the trade deals we have ought to be more FAIR.
Bernie, sadly, wants socialism while Trump is more keen on using the power of the markets to do the right thing.
And Bezos won’t be able to buy Bernie.
They ruined it for Woolworth's. Because of Sears and J.C. Penny. And Caldor!
I don't mind Amazon dominating the market for a while. Eventually a Walmart or some other competitor will rise. What I mind is when they expand in to production and media (free advertising), and who knows what else, that I think the monopoly/ trust busting rules should kick in.
Says the person that thinks government should be all powerful and intrusive.
FU BS
(/sarcasm)
Bernie is just mad that it is unfair that unlike in Berniezuela people here can not only purchase toilet paper in every imaginable texture and color, but have it delivered to their door
What’s Bernie’s FR handle?
