I wish more people in America were knowledgeable about what went on in the Chinese Communist Revolution under Mao. It looked a lot like what is happening here in this story and elsewhere in the US. For example, “progressive” government elites used the useful idiots on the left(mostly younger people) to rob, torture, imprison, and kill the opposition, whom they called “counter-revolutionaries.” All the while using government corruption as their excuse to transfer power to a bigger and more corrupt government system. America’s Poison Pill. We totally &#%&^#ed up in 1853 when Lincoln recklessly released a population of 3,000,000 freed slaves into a total population of about 20,000,000 entrepreneurial, adventurous, freedom loving, patriotic American citizens and just expected the slaves to take to America as a duck to water. How was that supposed to work??? The original Americans had all come to America to seek their fortunes in different ways. (I think it was Lincoln’s plan to return the slaves to Africa if he hadn’t been assassinated. Can you imagine the pain that would have saved us???)

Thanks. You inspired me to look up a few more numbers, as I also used the effective date of the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address in 1863 as my basepoint. So, in 1865, US population was about 30 Million. Suddenly, ~10% increase in population by people who did not chose to risk all seeking a better life in a free country.

Good points. It just seems they took to the Rats’ bait pretty easily. Not like people inclined toward living otherwise. So many people of all stripes doing the same today.
