John McCain is supposedly trying to hang on till past May 31st, after which he will either die or resign.
The reason: so the PEOPLE don't get to choose his successor!
If he dies or resigns before May 31st, there will have to be an election to fill out his term (he was just reelected in 2016).
If he dies or resigns after that, then the governor can appoint somebody until the 2020 election.
And McCain has already supposedly given the governor a list of people to succeed him, one of which would be his wife, Cindy. And wouldn't that be special!
The Senate seat is HIS, ya see!
John McCain. Odious to the end, and if he has his way, even AFTER the end!
“If hes staying in the Senate because he doesnt want to give the Democrats a shot at winning the seat isnt that better than if hes just staying in out of egotism, spite, and perversity?”
No. The people should have a voting representative in the legislature.
The Party that he elected in? Oh thank goodness, I wouldn’t put it past the evil JM to pull a fast one! Thanks for the information! :-)
Carpetbagging worked well for Hillary, so why not?
McCain has done zip to help the families and friends of men who were MIA on classified OPS in Laos and Cambodia and others who were MIA there. McCain has been consistent in one thing his entire life. McCain comes before all. (IN HIS MIND)
I’m talking about Martha McSully the congress woman RINO running to thwart Dr Kelli Ward. She has got a lot of special PAC money just in the last month. She has a war chest of money.
That is precisely what has been discussed on this forum for months now...and the information in this post is wrong. There will be an appointment regardless - the difference would be whether or not the special election would occur in November 2018 or November 2020. Having another "open" seat in 2018 to defend was considered not ideal to most who discussed it. His successor is going to be appointed regardless - cotton1706 should ask the post be removed or at least the headline / content changed as the current content is incorrect (which I am not accusing you of doing this intentionally...but it is simply wrong information just the same).
Every time I see that picture I think of what Kerry did and how we have had people over the years visit despots without being part of the State Dept or a designated emissary such as Pelosi visiting Assad and I am sure Fr-er’s can name many more that have done this. My guess is within the framework of the Trump Administration, this ch!+ is gonna stop real quick and anyone dare do it will get the Logan Act, Kerry isn’t out of the woods on this yet IMHO..
If there is an appointment either way, the difference is that one appointment would last until an election in November, relatively quickly so the people can choose their representative (similar to a House vacancy) or an appointment that lasts over a year and a half, i.e. so the appointee can become entrenched and last forever (like Lisa Murkowski).
I hope the governor hasn’t given McCain any say in the appointment.
I am, as long as the governor can be trusted.
The Governor of Arizona should take his list and appoint someone who is CONSERVATIVE...
Both are traitorous to the Constitution!
Remember The Forrestal.
Same open borders moronic attitude of her father, no way!
Provide evidence Meghan is open borders because what I find is not the case. She deserves to be taken seriously in her own right and not smeared with her father. She walks into the lions den with those crazies on The View. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jan/23/meghan-mccain-view-co-host-rips-anti-trump-gop-str/
Read it and weep, she opposed the AZ law that her father faked supporting because he was up for election.

Thank you. The opening paragraph says she was in opposition to her father.
Yes, because he was faking support for the AZ law because he was up for election. She opposed the AZ law.
As soon as he won he stopped pretending to be for secure borders and enforcement, again.
