I don’t think so. A retraction is not a defense for libel once the damage is done. Officer Hubbard needs to show that there was defamation (clearly) and the libelers were negligent - yeah that too.
Jail time should be the next topic for this person. She could have ruined the guy’s career if not for the video.

See table 42 - Rape: black victim, white offender 0.0
Not surprisingly they stopped publishing the racial breakdown after Obama was elected.
It part of larger women making false claims against men thing going on.
All men need bodycams, or at least having a voice recorder going, on their phones.
Its not illegal for someone to mistakenly accuse a person of a sex crime if they truly believed the person committed it. However, if the accuser lacked reasonable grounds for believing that a crime occurred and reported it anyway, he or she may face civil or even criminal charges for a false accusation.
Under Texas law, its an offense if, while intending to deceive, a person knowingly makes a false statement that is material to a criminal investigation to police, peace officers or law enforcement employees making the investigation.
When will this civil rights lawyer be dis-barred?
Body Cam
This black woman thought she could get away with this accusation and get some money for being the "victim" in this case. What else would be her motivation?
She is doing her "race" a big disservice. I hope she goes to jail or gets her ass sued up a river.
Cry wolf too many times and no one will believe you at all anymore.
An apology is not enough. Given the level of severity white cop on black citizen attacks have been assigned by the race hustlers in this country, a false accusation such as this should involve prison time and a severe financial penalty. This woman needs to pay dearly for her actions.
It seems that has been incorrectly cited and applied.

If the lawyer issued a retraction and an apology (on his own behalf) as soon as he learned that his client had lied to him then I do not think he should be held liable for her misdeeds. It is neither a crime, nor is it negligence, for a lawyer to initially trust what his client is telling him.
Had he failed to backtrack as soon as her lie was discovered? Different story.
PS - Im feeling a little weird tight now - I actually just defended an attorney...
Maybe theres a full moon or something.
The Bible seeks parity in the case of false witness.
18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; 19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you. 20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you. 21 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. (Deuteronomy 19:18-21)
Parity. This will "put the evil away from among [us]."
That source - a far left sociology professor - should be rejected on its face. Stunning that you would consider it credible. Look up some of the courses he teaches if there is any doubt in your mind.
And, this kind of offense should get 20 years in prison, first offense and mandatory.
What in the analysis did you find to be incorrect?
The entire narrative is incorrect, as a commenter on that page details.
Just FYI I will not be wasting my time debating the assertions of hard-left identity politics mongers. If it is not self-evident that their assertions should be rejected out of hand on the basis of the astonishingly long train of false claims from that quarter, then you are not yet in a place where you can benefit from what I can teach.
This has been going on for about 40 years or so that I know of.
