The mind and spirit soar if this could come to fruition.

I would have died laughing only 5 years before if someone told me West and East Germany would be United.

With great presidents great things are possible. We just have them so rarely. I guess we will take a wait-and-see on this. Can’t imagine the generals going for it or Kim giving up that kind of power.

Anyone remember who was in control of East Germany at least as a puppet? Before the reunification

Kim is a young guy. Just like the new prince of SA. They love western culture. They know that their old ways are not the future. We are living in an amazing time. We should all be praying for peace and prosperity for the world. We’ve tried to bomb our way to peace the last 20 years. We got nowhere.

I do not think Kim’s statement means what the Twitter guy thinks it does. Reason is that the statement seems more to be a difficulty with English expression. The obstacles to reunification of north and south are immense. Sure it could happen, but this is not a situation that is in any way similar to East and West Germany at the end of the Cold War.

For real?

If so this is a major historical event on par with the re-unification of East and West Germany...

Maybe more so.

Well, this is one of the many facets of the negotiations.

Don't count your chickens before they've come home to roost, or something. But yes, reunification is definitely the end game, and one question is how far South Korea's Moon will go to effect it - a U.S. draw-down? Economic pledges to the North? He'll have to do some fast talking to his generals to get them to buy in, but a U.S. withdrawal is almost certainly on the table.

Still, it's an epochal change and there's no point in rushing things unduly, but yes, it could happen. And it might not.

We need to sanction North Korea and their sponsors as hard as we can.

When the North Koreans talk about reunification with
the South, they really mean North Korean conquest of South Korea. There is no way North Korea can adapt to the lifestyle and freedoms
of the South Korean people without a complete dissolution
of the North Korean government.

And then their are the punishments that must be meted out
for the Kim's crimes against the the North Korean
people and against South Korea and the United States of America. Consider: Kim Jun Un murdered his brother in an
international airport in Malaysia with a banned nerve agent.
Is he not to be held responsible for this, as well
the suffering and killings in his concentration camps?

“Kim Jong-un is saying that in order to improve relations, he’s willing to dissolve his country!”

I don’t think so. More likely, he is saying that South Korea should dissolve their country.

Think of it this way, the North is 100% dominated by the Communist party. The South, let’s say is dominated only 25% by the Communist party. If you merge them, then what? The “reunified” country is dominated 62% by the Communist party? We know how “free elections” will go in that situation.

Translation: Kim has decided to purge his entire officer corps to prevent a coup and needs more time before the summit to complete the purge, wherein he will gladly sign anything that legitimizes his position and country and guarantees he will be a billionaire.

I follow Thomas on Twitter and generally like his analysis. Can we agree it is a lot more accurate than the “Muller is secretly on team Trump” analysis that was floating around here??
