Delingpole: Trump Is Right – Germany’s Green Energy Suicide Is a Threat to the West
Breitbart ^ | July 12, 2018 | James Delingpole

President Trump has warned at a NATO summit that German dependence on Russian gas poses a major security threat to the West. It’s about time somebody said it! This problem has been brewing for decades. In fact it goes right back to the communist era of the Soviet Union, when the Russians saw the burgeoning green movement as the perfect way to undermine their enemies in the free West.

Originally, the Soviets funded the “Peace Movement” in Western Europe mainly as a way of promoting the campaign for nuclear disarmament (in the West, that is, not behind the Iron Curtain). They were especially successful in Germany.

As Rupert Darwall writes in his book Green Tyranny – as discussed on Curt Schilling’s show – one of the leading figures in the German Green movement Petra Kelly was actually dating a Soviet agent. Ostensibly, her lover Gert Bastian was an ex-NATO general who had quit to head the Peace Movement’s Generals for Peace and Disarmament. In reality, he was a Stasi spy – and when the details were about to emerge in the early 90s after German reunification, Bastian shot first Kelly then himself.

As well as undermining the West’s missile defences, the German Greens did a very successful job of tarnishing the name of nuclear power – Atomkraft? Nein Danke! – in Germany generally. The result was that large numbers of planned nuclear power projects which might have given Germany energy independence similar to that enjoyed by France were nixed.

Despite their ugly past – they attracted both ex-Nazis and cultural Marxists under the influence of the Frankfurt School – the Greens went from strength to strength. They were largely responsible for driving the disastrous policy, known as Energiewende, which has hamstrung German industry, driven hundreds...

In the article they are discussing the green movement in Germany. These movements would never amount to anything if they did not have the full backing of the media. Why does the media and all the Western countries keep pushing for agendas which are not in the best interest of their country or their citizens. If I try to start a movement it would die in the Cradle because I would never get any coverage. But all these Lefty movements always get full coverage it’s very weird.

There seems little sense in spending billion$ and risking tens of thousands of American servicemen’s lives to defend a country who has effectively unilaterally surrendered to the Russians. Germany is one cold spell and a push of the button from complete capitulation. Short of a Berlin LPG Lift on a mega-scale - something we do not have the capacity to accomplish - Germany is at the mercy (ha!) of Putin.

Trump must enable a southern route pipeline from the Middle East to Europe.

If Europe doesn’t build a pipeline and buy the gas, China will.

Russian is destabilizing Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey, for one reason: so they can dominate European gas supply.

That is also why the Russians are being aggressive in Eastern Europe.

That is also why the Russians are supporting the anti-fracking meme.

Gas is what motivates Russia.

Why should we care about this? The leftists who control Germany today are morally and politically no better than Putin. And they are surrendering themselves to ideologies that are less prevalent in Russia. If Russia shut off their gas, it might even bring them back to reality concerning energy.

Its why I’m for the dissolution of NATO. Its a fraud.

Russia is a threat to USA as much as any other nuke-armed nation. Let Europe deal with them head-on.

For now. But Russia also knows they could make even more money selling natural gas to China, a country that could use it to drastically reduce the air pollution in their cities. I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia and China builds a massive pipeline system to transport natural gas into China through Mongolia and northeastern China.

I guess rank stupidity and the inability to ascertain consequences is not limited to USA democrats. German folk are usually thorough to a fault but somehow Germany decided to abandon energy independence and subjugate their energy needs to France and Russia.

WTF? Are they still apologizing for WW-II?

Exactly. The Yurps are just playing us for suckers and have been for a long time. They are “allies” in the same sense that a rich man has a lot of “friends” so long as he’s buying.

That and though Germans are individually smart and technologically advanced, they are complete idiots when it comes to politics. They are hopelessly naive and have a collectivist impulse to go along with a very smug self satisfaction and desire to boss others around. As you might guess, this has made them oh so popular over time......

And they have a lonnnngggg history of living under authoritarian...very authoritarian rough governments and consequently don’t have the rebellious non-conformist genes that we Americans do.

What do you think Syria was about?
The Euroweenies wanted a NG pipeline from the Gulf to the Med, through Syria.
Syria is a Sov, er, Russian client and said no.
So the Euroweenies (and probably us) tried a bit of regime changes and, bingo!, we got ISIS.
The idiot Germans need to get over themselves and their envirofascists and build nukes.
Hell, we need to get over our envirofascists and build more nukes.
