I don’t think your interpretation is exactly right, either. I believe the government was formed for the specific purpose of protecting God given rights, not just not infringe on them.

I sometimes joke that if the Second Amendment was treated like the Fifth, the government would be obligated to issue weapons to those who couldn’t afford to buy them.

The Government has caused Gun Segregation.

You keep the “Registered” ones in one place and the “Free” Guns in anther place. Kind of a back of the Bus kind of thing.

Very respectfully, I'd have to disagree.

Our government was formed as protection against a tyrannical government and it is up to us as individuals, as communities, as a culture to protect the basic human rights bestowed upon every man by our Creator.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed...

Our government was given a specific list of what it could NOT do as regards these rights. It was not given the duty to protect or regulate them.

Of course, that's my opinion as I read the founding documents.

No, I dont remember a time when Americans were truly free. I was born in 1958, far too late to be a truly free American. I was born into a world where “driving is a priviledge” and you cold not drive without a license. I was born into a world where income tax non_payment meant jail time. I was born into a world where the government could take your home away if you refused to pay yor property tax.

I realize we are far less free today, with no privacy, but no I cannot “remember” a time when Americans were truly free, since I was born long after.

Certainly we were not truly free n 1968 when draconian gun control was passed. We were not truly free in 1913 when the income tax was assed and the Federal Reserve bank created. We were not truly fee after the 1887 Interstate Commerce Act was passed.

I suspect we stopped being truly free sometime before the the War Between the States, when the 10th Amendment was killed off. I would go so far as to say Americans have not been truly free since the Whiskey Rebellion, when the government illegally taxedwhiskey in 1791.

Seeing as how we became a nation in 1781 with the Articles of Confederation, I would say Americans were truly free for only about 10 years. So no, I dont remember those days. Big government wasted NO time in beginning to oppress Americans, it has just gotten progressively worse, until we are close to totalitarian dictatorship today. We have almost never been truly free. Governments cant stand a Free people. Not even George Washington, who I love and respect as being the best of the lot.

Some states like New York, California, and elsewhere, require you to register every gun you own with the state.

It makes it easier to confiscate them

I was talking to a company owner and real-estate developer who had relocated from New York to Florida. He move his huge business from New York, not because of taxes, but because he decided that one day they’d come get his gun collection.

Their loss.

Only a few authoritarian states require registration of firearms. Those states are California, Hawaii, Maryland, and New York.

I was about to ask why you left New Jersey off the list, but instead searched NJ gun registration. This document came up at the top of the list:

STATE OF NEW JERSEY VOLUNTARY FORM OF FIREARMS REGISTRATION (To register a firearm, all questions must be answered) This is a three-part form Type or press firmly with ball point pen If internet form, make & sign three copies.

So, registration is voluntary! BUT (and it's a big but) to legally purchase a firearm in NJ you must apply for and be issued a permit to purchase. If that ain't registration, what is?

Nope. Not just you- I've preached that for 40 years. And pro second amendment groups take our money in donations but do not mount any serious legal challenge to the infringements.
