The most pointed observation of them all:
"I've known many addicts in my life, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that none of them ever would have spent his last $20 to buy gas for a motorist in distress."
Who didn’t see this coming?
Doing good for others is a big money maker.....
No good deed right?
No good deed......
..... Goes unpunished.
No surprise this happened in Jon Corzine’s state . . . commingling is the state’s top pastime . . .
If I open a GoFundMe page for the guy next door to raise money to deal with some kind of distress he's facing, who has the legal right to collect and distribute the money?
The biggest problem the plaintiff in this case may face is that he may have no standing to even file the lawsuit if someone else set up the GoFundMe page. And if they used it to collect $400,000 under phony pretenses, then it's the DONORS, not the phony "recipient," who probably have a stronger case against the perpetrators.
I’ve heard it put this way....
You and I have a thousand problems. The mortgage, the boss, the tires that need replacing, the health concerns, and etc. etc.
An addict only has one problem. Where to get that next fix.
Great, now the lawyers will get it all.
I've reached the point where there's no charity I give to anymore. And that includes the "Alumni Scholarship Fund" at my college (Hint: one really should check how trustees spend money). I'd rather go "downtown" with some singles, and give someone money for a hot dog or Subway sandwich or an all-day bus pass, if they seem sincere when they ask. If they waste that small amount of money? It's on them and it's an opportunity to make a good choice.
grrr
.
I agree with that observation having seen it in action with my own parents.
Ah, charity...
I swear, I’ve given up on it. Even giving folks money that I know personally seems to backfire...let alone strangers and all...
Charity starts with me, and man, there’s all sorts of things I want... I’m less fortunate in so many places like...rv, boat, mtn bikes...new clothes....
And me? I’m always incredibly gracious for spoiling myself!
When my brother inherited money from my grandmother, He was kicked off all the public assistance he was used to from the state of California. The inheritance really messed hm up .He couldnt deal with it and soon the whole family, he had 3 sons, were hooked on drugs.
Tell me about it. Had a coworker who offered to help me with 2 storage containers because I had no one to help me. Only to see that some items were missing.

There's got to be more to this story than what is being reported. Apparently the guy lived in a trailer on their property for a while after this saga started.
The Addict Fund.
Money For Addicts.
You’ve heard of the “Good Samaritan”?
This ain’t him.
Sounds like a case of fraud to me.
