DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GORSUCH AND KAVANNAUGH

Posted on 10/04/2018 11:00:51 AM PDT by Jean2

I have an observation and a question. I don't remember the dims or anyone else having such a cow over Gorsuch. What is the deal with Kavannaugh? Just curious.

I’m with you. Gorsuch took the seat that could have been Obama’s pick.

I was surprised the Dems didn’t make a bigger stink before the election in 2016 or when Gorsuch was nominated.

Maybe they thought their silent coup would work and Trump would be gone by now, giving them back the power.

If Kavanaugh had any squishy in him, it's been eradicated in the past 10 days.

each justice that Pres Trump successfully places on the SCOTUS is moving the court further toward being strict constitutionalist. (conservative)

this is a nightmare for the lunatic left because infecting our country with their agenda is done through the courts. their insanity will not succeed by legislation.

savvy ?

You’ve got that right. I think part of this mess was the proverbial shot across the bow for the next nominee.

"He estimates 80% of the leftist agenda stuffed into our culture was not voted on but rather was the result of the courts."

Then there is the Fourth Branch of gov't. - embedded leftists in the Agencies that the lazy Congress authorizes to flesh out the legislation with their rules and administrative law.

Gorsuch replaced Scalia so the court didn’t shift to the right. Kavanaugh replacing Kennedy should shift the court to the right on abortion and, potentially, gay marriage and religious freedom issues.

Why are liberals in government, media and on main street so concerned about a decent man becoming a Supreme Court Justice?:

Congress, Presidents, governors, legislatures, IRS/FBI/DOJ and all others set up potential possible judicial decisions, which are ALL Decided by the Supreme Court.

Often by one vote.

The federal circuit judges (HI,OR,CA especially), and the Supreme Court 5-4 decisions totally run our religious practice, life and death such as abortion, immigration and our borders, our sex lives and definitions of gender, and all types of private and public activity and taxation.

Thanks to frank ballenger for his remarks above clarifying the America, we have lived in since FDR.

As I said before, if the Dems had any honesty (I know, I know, this is extinct in the party) or even intellect, there would have been a very legitimate and PROVABLE way of NOT CONFIRMING Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh’s stance on warrantless spying is extremely troubling – although there may be some signs his opinion has changed.

His original viewpoint on warrantless wiretapping claimed it was consistent with the Fourth Amendment.

You’re talking about secret courts which hardly give people the avenue to dispute why their data is being seized.

It should also be pointed out we’re talking about a government which is considering a law forcing nonprofits to share information with police and regulators “regarding individuals, entities, organizations, and countries suspected of possible human trafficking or related money laundering activities.

This bill would allow the government to get information on people without a warrant or probable cause. Financial entities or nonprofits who go along with this awful law are exempt from any possible civil action from those who somehow find out their information is exposed.

The Senate, if they were doing their job would be harping on this decision and making it an issue, which is a LEGITIMATE and VERY IMPORTANT ONE at that.

That this issue was not given any importance in favor of a juvenile attack that may not have happened 36 years ago just shows us the kind of people we are voting into our national legislature.

I just hope that with this terrible experience he had to go through, his stance on individual freedom will be less Kennedyesque.

I think they were in part encouraged by how they were able to take out Roy Moore with the bogus old stuff.

What happened in the meantime, also, is Gorsuch. There were notions from the right and the left that he might be like Anthony Kennedy. He’s proved to be more like Samuel Alito. And Kavanaugh has been very close to Gorsuch.

Poor Kavanaugh was nominated after the Dims were able to keep Moore from being elected in Alabama using 40-year-old made up allegations of sexual abuse. The Dims are using that tactic on anybody and everybody they disagree with until it quits working.

I think RBG has majorly screwed up. Supposedly, she was hanging in there for the Crooked Hag to be elected the first woman president - she wanted the Crooked Hag to nominate her replacement. Well, the Hag lost. So, she’s been hanging in there, hoping to outlive Trump’s term. She absolutely does not want Trump to nominate her replacement. So now she’s got to hang on for dear life until 2020 and hope Trump loses his re-election bid. I don’t know if RBG has that many days left on her life line.

The Kav battle is NOTHING compared to what is going to explode when Trump nominates a replacement for RBG. He may appoint a woman to replace a woman, but it won’t be a liberal replacing a liberal and all hell will break loose.

Gorsuch is a conservative replacing a conservative, Kavanaugh is a conservative replacing whatever Anthony Kennedy was.

Quite right. Obama's legacy lives on in the form of an active, substantial, remaking-America force. It is as though he has a 3d term and perhaps even a 4th.

The R's desperately need to effectively address civil service labor statutes, policies and practices.

The Dims are beginning to realize that Kavanaugh will result in a 5-4 majority that BELIEVES in the US Constitution AND that Ruth Bader Ginsburg has started buying only speckled bananas.

Kav was not the most conservative of the final four Trump put forth although he would be considered more conservative than Kennedy.

This pulls the court to the right....at just the right time. One, it will begin to support Trump in a way folks would never have expected. Two, they will undoubtedly revisit issues....especially if the Repubs keep both houses. Three, I believe this also encourages The Turtle to push for even more confirmations to the lower courts.

Conservative values work, when folks work them. The never Trumpers and RINO’s are either coming around....or getting out of the way.
