President Donald Trump is gifting federal employees with a day off on Christmas Eve this year.
On Tuesday, the President signed an executive order excusing government employees from work on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018. The executive order declared that "All executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Monday, December 24, 2018, the day before Christmas Day."
The President signed the order amid uncertainty of a possible partial government shutdown if a funding bill doesn't get approved by Friday.
Christmas is always a holiday for the federal government but presidents in the past have made their own judgment calls when Christmas Eve falls mid-week. Last year, Christmas Eve fell on a Sunday, so government employees did not get an extra day off.

Oh noes! GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN!!!!
That’s free taxpayer money they’re getting paid. Though I have no doubt not much work was being done anyway.
Oh noes! He’s taking the mantle of a government shutdown! Will Schumer try to take credit instead?
Does that include the post office?
Whether or they come to work or not, the same quality is there.
(The reader is left to their definition of government worker quality.)
So, more free tax dollars paid to the do nothings.
They were going to take leave and get paid anyway.
Doesn't look like it.
Per OPM: "The President has issued an Executive order excusing executive branch non-Postal Service employees from duty on Monday, December 24, 2018, with pay and without a charge to leave, except those who, in the judgment of the head of the agency, cannot be excused for reasons of national security, defense, or other public need."
Now they’ll have to watch their porn at home...
Which won’t be long
I’ve worked for the Feds and the State of Wisconsin. If we had to work on Christmas Eve Day, we were either having an office party or were sent home early.
This is nothing new, though since President Trump is in charge, it’s NEVER happened before in the HISTORY of ANY Presidency!
*SMIRK* ;)
Although workers for the U.S. Postal Service are federal employees, the post office would remain open on Christmas Eve, according to its website. However, post office locations may close early, since Santa Claus has Christmas package delivery down pat. For that last-minute stamp, its best to check the hours of a local branch, because some locations will close as early as 12 p.m.
When are they ever open?
0bama did the same in 2012. Prior to and for the remainder of his, ‘Reign of Error’ he gave them half-days with pay on Christmas Eve Day:
One our of ten government workers actually works. That one is worth their weight in gold but can never be paid what they are worth because of the other nine.
Just waiting for a court to rule it unconstitutional......just because Trump signed it.
