It wasn't the media's finest moment. On Tuesday, the press was up in arms over President Trump's decision to offer up a fast food smorgasbord for the NCAA champions the Clemson Tigers when the team visited the White House Monday night. Some angry reporters accused Trump of disrespecting both the athletes and the presidency with the choice in delicacy.
Lord help us some reporters even fact checked the president over how many burgers he really served and how much it all cost. Trump previously tweeted that he paid for the burgers himself.
So... how much did all that food actually cost?

Despite all the outrage, as anyone could see the players rather enjoyed themselves, especially offensive lineman Matt Bockhorst.

Still, critics on social media suggested that the players deserved better. One person lamented that all Bockhurst had to show for his efforts on the field was CTE, a brain condition that can develop after repeated blows to the head, and a Big Mac. Again, Bockhorst offered a respectful smackdown.
And a scholarship, a stipend, an education, a head coach that cares and last but not least, a National Championship Ring ???? Goodnight Twitter https://t.co/xkkFIg8Dp6— Matt Bockhorst (@MattBockhorst) January 15, 2019
Bockhorst gained plenty of fans after his string of harmless and clever tweets, some praising him as a "class act" or a man of "great character." Nearly everyone loved his sense of humor.
Who knows what the press were expecting. A gourmet meal perhaps? Hot towels and valet parking? These are growing young men. I suspect they were happy with greasy burgers.
The Clemson Tigers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide last week in the College Football Playoff championship game by a score of 44-16. Eat your heart out, boys!
Yes. Where Trump is concerned ...
Linus: You know how it is, Charlie Brown. You win some and you lose some.
Charlie: Sigh. Wouldn’t it be nice?
The Post writers suffer from TDS
Escargot, lobster, eels, and oysters, perhaps? I.e., snails, sea cockroaches, and other slimy critters? Some horse meat? Gourmet is overrated.
I fully support President Trump feeding the Clemson football team Cheeseburgers and French Fries. In fact I think he should do it 2 - 3 times per week....

Yes, when it comes to President Trump, they are.
This is how a tongue-in-cheek statement during a campaign rally (Russia, if youre listening, I hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,) turns into "Trump is colluding with Russia to hack Hillary!"
I dunno. I woulda preferred prime rib but thats just me.
The media gets smacked down and made to look foolish, then they wipe the egg off and get back up and do it again. They clearly don’t give a darn about credibility, their sole focus is to spew venomous anti-Trump hate speech and submit fake news on a daily basis. Because that’s what activists do, we keep thinking they are journalists, thy are not.
My two 20-somethings would have loved it. Very cool.
BRAVO FOR THAT PLAYER!
He managed to please his invited guests with the food he served them and pissed off the media at the same time.
Trump at his best.
The media are such idiots sometimes.
Sometimes?
Huh, well, they are propagandists always.
I happened to catch Rush last week, and he said pretty much the same thing...Rush said President Trump loves to "goose" the media because he completely understands how little it takes to get them in a tizzy. He constantly goads them into illustrating their stupidity.
In the midst of the gloom-and-doom, dreaded Government Shutdown, Trump yells “Squirrel!” and gets them all chasing after stories about serving Big Macs to the Clemson Tigers.
The guy is a friggin’ genius.
This fast food meal was right up their alley. Trump's instincts were spot-on.
Besides it doesn't matter what you would have preferred. You weren't invited. :-)
:: Imagine sitting with this President having a good visit, while munching on... ::
Cheetos! Hell, I’d even bring them.
And, a nice fine china bowl to put them in.
Wanna bet Trump (may re-election be upon him) would grab a handful, too?
I am hardly a football player..but I did have the pleasure once of eating with both teams playing in the Rose Bowl once. There is a pre-game tradition known as the “Beef Bowl.” Unlimited prime rib courtesy of Lawry’s in Beverly Hills. :)
By any other name, ....Chopped ChateauBriand On-A-Bun
Don’t tempt DJT. He is the kind of guy that would have them over to the White House a couple of times a week, if for nothing more than to just drive the media crazy.
But not very good one!!
What strikes me is that the fast food chains aren’t striking back in any way shape or form, their product is being mocked and trashed. How many tens of millions of voters eat McD’s, BK, Dominoe’s etcetera on a weekly basis and enjoy it? This is going to backfire, they just can’t help their elitist selves.
I saw some leftist calling Trump cheap, that he could have had them all over to his hotel for dinner, I replied oh yeah then you people would be screaming nonsense about the emoluments clause.
