I”m trying to figure out - why does the UK have to make ANY sort of deal at all with the EU? Voters overwhelmingly said “we want out, NOW!”. There is nothing that the UK has to do but - quit. They then head back to trade on their own like it use to be (and probably get a better deal than via the EU cesspool).

Unfortunately, during their time in the EU, Britain opened their fishing areas to the other EU countries and must negotiate for their return or lose fishing rights. The Welsh are quite irate about this.

The debate here is whether anyone really wants this job at this particular time. I think most will stick with May staying at the job. Lets face...the EU treaty isn’t going to occur, and they need someone to just ride this ‘dead-horse’ as far as possible.

Whether to allow May to stay as in powerless disgrace or call an election which will probably lead to national suicide as a communist will almost surely win.

That is exactly what will happen if there is no deal by March 29 and there is no extension under Article 50 of the Treaty on the European Union, which requires unanimous consent of the EU member states. The Treaty will no longer apply to the UK and the UK will no longer be in a customs union with Europe. It would trade with the EU under WTO rules.

Most of Parliament doesn't want that, though. However, most of Parliament doesn't agree on what they do want, so that may be what they get.

Thanks for this. I don’t know why this is of interest to me, but it is.

There’s nothing to debate. The Tories and the Democratic Unionist Party are going to oppose the no confidence vote on party lines. They constitute a majority, so that will be an end of it.

The Tories already voted to keep May. They aren’t going to throw away their government.

You mean, they won't be able to fish in their OWN waters?!???

That's more than enough reason for the Brits to tell the EU to eff off.

A few of Her Majesty's frigates on patrol should settle this quite nicely.

Then the voters will, because this is going to make them look "bloody effing stupid".

327 out of 650 is not very much of a majority. I think that it is effectively 327 out of 642, but that leaves room for five desertions—party discipline needs to exceed 98%.

I wouldn’t call it a done deal.

That is correct. This was one of the primary reasons for the BREXIT movement.

It may come to that. The Norweigian's, Dutch, and French fishing fleets won't leave of their own accord. All Great Britain needs now is a PM that will stand for Great Britain.

If only the Brits had some sort of naval thingy to protect their territorial waters and enforce their sovereignty.
