Who really wants to drain the "Swamp"?

Posted on 01/23/2019 8:20:57 AM PST by Rumplemeyer

Here is one very easy way to drain the swamp that is our government. Change our present tax system to a flat tax system.

You see our present system is based on a series of one shot laws written for the benefit of those making donations to our congress and senate critters. Why do you think the tax code is almost 100 thousand pages long?

A flat tax system would eliminate this legal bribery. No more special exemptions for consideration of the generous donations to reelection campaigns of our "Leaders".

These are known to we the great unwashed as "Loopholes"

The mere suggestion of a Flat Tax elicit cries of injustice; "women, children and minorities hit hardest", when the terror is felt by our career politicians who might loose their power.

Think about it, taking away their ability to enact every looney social engineering idea they dream up.

“About half of what the federal government does is unconstitutional.”

Half? I think you should get a prize for understatement. It’s likely more than 3\4ths.

I would much prefer a national sales tax to the current system but unfortunately there is about a one in a million chance at best of ever passing it unless it is IN ADDITION to all the current taxes. We will become Venezuela 2.0 before it happens.

Even more reason to repeal the 16th Amendment. I read somewhere, but didn’t have the foresight to save it, that the early US government got concerned when they had too much money in the coffers because it could make the govt. prey for scalawags, or something like that.

If you truly understood the 16th, you would (perhaps) want to keep it. http://losthorizons.com/

I agree. Fair tax should be the ultimate goal.
