Venezuelas self-proclaimed acting president Juan Guaido refused to rule out on Friday the possibility of authorizing United States intervention to help force President Nicolas Maduro from power and alleviate a humanitarian crisis.
National Assembly leader Guaido told AFP he would do everything that is necessary... to save human lives, acknowledging that US intervention is a very controversial subject.

How about NO! They made their bed, now lie in it. Let it be a lesson to AOC.
Guaido can allow it but it doesn’t mean we will do it. I think it can be done without US troops getting involved.
No way Juanito. Fix it your own bad self.
I hope you are not saying it makes sense to send troops into Venezuela. It doesn’t. As obnoxious as this Maduro muppet is, he is no threat to the US. AND he is the result of socialism that the voters of the country voted for themselves. The US does not owe them one drop of American blood to bail them out.
He should be left alone to continue to destroy Venezuela and kill its people. He’s a brilliant example to the voters of this country and the rest of the world. He does the US more good exactly where he is, compared to any conceivable benefit of intervention.
Oh, he’s killing his people and committing crimes against humanity? That’s what the Great and Wonderful Oz, oops, excuse me, UN is for.
UN could not defeat a cub scout troop.
And they would find a reason to rape a lot of Venezuelans.
No, I don’t want us to invade.
We have people who specialize in helping. Not our military.
But. There are times when military intervention is justifiable on a humanitarian level. Will not say more than that.
True, that.
But you must be armed to do that. The citizens in Venezuela are not armed. (some may be finding some)
That should be an extreme example of what not to do in the US. Never Ever let the ComDem freaks disarm the US. OH, they would love to do just that. But they don’t get it.
Blood will run in the streets if they seriously try. Most of it will be theirs. And the attempt will not last long.
And what do we Americans get out of the deal?
Elections have consequences. The Venezuelans voted for their beloved savior Hugo Chavez and his benevolent socialism. The evil yanquis U.S. didn't know what it was missing. Every failed program, every economic setback was the fault of evil corporations like McDonald's etc.
Only a fool thought there would be free elections after voting in socialism.
If they want an American army to invade.....it should be an army of NYT, CNN, WaPo, ABC, MSNBC reporters, Sean Penn, AOC, etc etc and all their ilk who invade Venezuela and show them how to do socialism the "right" way.
If you want to throw off the the yolk of socialism - expend your own blood and treasures amigo.
Do I understand correctly that fracked shale oil is very light and thus would be useful as a solvent to thin Venezuelas oil so that it could readily be pumped?
That's because he's a Marxist as well. The problem with Venezuela isn't Maduro, it's the corrupt socialist system that destroys everything. Guaido assuming power is the equivalent of the "moderate" Iranian president who took over for Ahmadinejad.
But. There are times when military intervention is justifiable on a humanitarian level.

That was the excuse for bombing Libya and taking out Quadaffy/Kadafi.
Duty to protect.
Bunk.
Their only duty should be to protect America and they are not doing that.
Maybe this is a job for the Puerto Rico National Guard?Assuming there is such a thing. At least theyd know the lingo . . .
The downside being, of course, that they might be Maduro sympathizers.
Nancy Pelosi doens’t rule out Chinese military intervention in US imprisonment of 10 million Americans.
So our assisting in or engineering the overthrow of Madura won’t make any difference?
That’s another reason to let the Venezuelans either stew in their own electoral choices or overthrow the regime themselves. The more we help them, the less likely they are to learn a lesson from this, and the sooner they’ll be back in the socialist mode.
> And what do we Americans get out of the deal? <
We get something the neocons love: another war. And yes John Bolton, I’m talking about people like you.
Doesn't matter who's President as long as you have a corrupt socialist system ruining the country, the results are going to be the same.
What they need is a total eastern Europe kind of reset.
I don’t see it happening.
Military action or not we need to at least continue to be vocal for support for the new guy. But we need the Russians and Iran out.
