“I was always told you can tell a lot about a person from their friends.”
It’s true. You can.
But if Adolf Hitler said that 2+2=4 it’s still true regardless of who he is and who his friends are. And saying that AH would be right in his math does not constitute an endorsement of the man or all of his views.
Some people have a very difficult time with this concept.
Absurdly bad choice!
More likely, Sen Paul is signalling that he wants some additional assurance from Barr about his views on RKBA and warrantless searches before voting to confirm him.
The White House will arrange for Barr to meet with Paul and give him those assurances, then Sen Paul will issue another statement saying he's going to vote to confirm.
That is how the DC two-step is performed.
It happens.
And what reason is that?
This guy is a disaster in the making, bank on it. He will be far worse than Sessions. This guy is a hardcore lib. Anyone that supports 4th amendment abuse of the federal government like him is not only a lib but a commie lib. The tell tale proof of what he will do as attorney general is his rabid anti gun stance. Only a commie can hold those views. Barr will solidly protect hillary and all the rest of the guilty obama clan as well as the swamp. This guy will try to influence the President to sign gun control measures. If he's successful in that the President will lose reelection.
BARR WILL BE DESTRUCTIVE TO THE ENTIRE TRUMP PRESIDENCY. THE LAST THING WE NEED IS ANOTHER SWAMP CREATURE RUNNING THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.
Time will tell. No need to get your boxers in a twist just yet over Barr.
BINGO! The bump stock ban. Any more crap like that and the reelection chances go down significantly.
Bingo.
lol, was I over the top there? I guess he was advised to pick Barr because Lynch and Holder were busy doing other projects.
I trust and support President Trump but when it concerns the Justice dept. I don't think from day one he could have made worse decisions. I have no idea why he appears to be so inept in this area but good grief, the President would have been no worse served if he appointed Eric Holder. Unfortunately the bad choices appear to continue.
“...God, you FReepers ...”
You’re a Freeper too.
I agree there is a reason why Trump chose him. But I always have problems with anyone who has a problem with our gun rights.
“...other than enforce existing laws on the books? ...”
True enough.
If you do not support Barr's confirmation you need to contact your Senators and ask them to vote NO.
Ditto. On Rand’s side.
What the hell is Trump thinking nominating a BUSH 41 person? Bush 41 is tight with the Clintons (GWB said Bubba Clinton is his “brother from another mother”), and their history is long.
There is no way Barr as AG will do the right thing for America.
But he got rid of AG Sessions and didn't vigorously support Roy Moore's campaign. And Kavanaugh's a bit of a question mark (another entitiled child of the Inner Belt on the SC) Should we be surprised any more?
+1 Thank you Rand
“Rand Paul is a circus clown. Everything that he does is all about him.”
Senator Paul laid out demonstrable and reasonable objections. That the best you can do sport?
I dont like Trump haters
“Would a swamp creature make disparaging comments about the Mueller investigation and Hillarys emails?”
Would a swamp creature hang out with Mueller personally and invite such an unethical POS to both his daughter’s weddings?
Yes
Probably not. But I hold out hope that there is a grand strategy behind some of his moves. Beyond what appears to be a dogged commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, he might fall back to his more traditional political stance, which is not at all conservative and looks more like that of Ivanka. That would be disappointing. I do perceive that he will continue to avoid lefty, activist judges . . . although I wish he would b!+chslap John Roberts one day soon.
“Barr is one of the foundering families of the intelligence community formed from the FBI into the CIA.”
Hadn’t hear that before. Any details? I’m not finding it
William Barr hasn’t been in government since January of 1993. That’s a giant 25-year gap in public service. It’s probably a point in his favor. We are reading a lot about his views of warrantless surveillance post-9/11, but it seems odd that he’d even feel obligated to give any opinions on it since he was out of government anyway.
