A high-level panel commissioned by Mayor Bill de Blasio called on the city to adopt a sweeping measure to address entrenched segregation in education: create diversity targets for all 1,800 schools so that their population reflects the racial and economic makeup of the surrounding areas.
Over the next five years, the panel recommended, elementary and middle schools should reflect the racial makeup of their local school district, and high schools should look as much like their local borough as possible, in terms of race, income level, disability and proficiency in English.
New York’s schools have become increasingly divided along racial lines over the last two decades, and the city is currently home to one of the most segregated urban public school systems in America.
Mr. de. Blasio, now in his second term, ran on a promise to reduce inequality in all aspects of city life. I’m in NYC, and while this isn’t a huge issue it’s always amazing to watch Upper West Side white, ultra-liberal, wealthy parents screaming at school board meetings against proposals to bring low-income minority students into their local public school. It’s twilight zone kinda stuff and I relish the videos.
I wonder where DeBlasio’s kids went to school? I’ll have to look that up, but dollars to donuts it was private school. To me, forcing an unnatural integration, which benefits nobody, is just like taking a perfectly good bottle of water, and a slimy, dirty bottle of water, and telling people that mixing them together will improve the slimy bottle of water. Now, neither bottle is drinkable.
And of course, a diversity score with zero white people in the school is considered a perfect score.
These people hate white people and the dog whistle of diversity is what they use to slowly destroy the white race.

I see his son went to Brooklyn Tech, one of the most elite, prestigious, and selective high schools in the United States (according to Wikipedia). It admits only by competitive examination (if you’re average, you can’t go there). Unless your daddy is the mayor. And because they are technically a public school, the students go for free. They apparently aren’t being asked to diversify.
I misread the headline as EVACUATED vs evaluated based upon diversity. I wonder if there has ever been a study correlating increased violence with increased diversity?
So did NY State give up the Regents Exams that triggered nightmares in me twice a year?
“Liberal” Yankees are liberal on all things but race; the same dynamic is here in northeast NJ right across the Hudson River. Reminds me of the apartheid system, and is probably the only way wealthy whites can share a city with non-whites who place no value on educations; this isn’t just about the quality of the education falling through the floor, but the physical safety of their precious children.
Evaluating based on “diversity” is just a way to pretend that a war zone school has anything positive to score - a fabricated, meaningless gauge when measuring education.
I believe they were watering them down; the problem with standardized tests is that they confirm and document the Bell Curve, so it must be removed as a meaningful test.

Total equality can only come by moving standards down to the lowest common denominator.

Its apparent that it is not WHO you are but WHAT you are that’s important. Education has been hijacked by the social justice warriors and is no longer about education its about your ethnic and sexual status and how to use it to get over on whitie

No, the point is they WANT the races to mix until there is no white race. A total minority school would mean there was a total white school elsewhere.
Thing is that in NYC you can either go to your zoned school or any other public school of your choice. It’s not always easy to get into a school your not zoned for but it can be done.
If this were a serious proposition a lot on Minorities that have gotten into schools outside of their zoned schools would have to go back to the poorly performing schools in their neighborhoods.
