“So we'll count you as a “not guilty” at the trial?”

Most blatant non sequitur I’ve ever seen here.

Weird:

Mixed family just fresh out of a homeless shelter after “losing everything” [unexplained but perhaps due to baby’s sickle cell anemia & other illness and hospital bills] sets up GoFundMe account to help fund security deposit for moving into rental home - just before getting un over by agitated smoker.

“Most blatant non sequitur I’ve ever seen here.”

Thanks, but I understand that people get emotional about stuff like this and don’t really want to proportion ‘blame’, as they see it - so I shrug it off.

This reminds me of an interesting experience that I had as a young parent. I was driving along, enjoying the music and thinking about politics, and then went for a lane change. As turned my head to the right to look back, I saw my daughter in her car seat totally asleep. My heart skipped a beat because I had completely forgotten she was in the car. While I can’t speak for others, my mind can never stay focused on anything 100% of the time (apparently lots of parents claim that ability, based on comments I’ve gotten in the past when recounting the story). I also had the same problem living in California. They tell you to always be ready for an earthquake - have a plan to take cover, have supplies ready, and BE READY. All good and fine, and much of the time I was waiting for the ground to shake - except the three times it did shake, totally took my by surprise, each time.

Anyway, back to my original story - I figured that since I had such a horrible concentration problem regarding my kids (that I guess no one else has, other than junkies and drunks), that I better do something. So I removed the airbag detonators for my cars (in hindsight, a smart move, as they were Takatas), put in tinted windows, and if I only had one kid in the car, that kid was in the front seat - and if I got a ticket or two, so be it. Never had a problem from then on. I only bring it up because this article reminds me that there are almost always other options one can take...rather than leaving oneself exposed.

I had two times that I was followed by a stranger. In the first case he just tailed me on the freeway, no matter how much I slowed down. Thankfully, and eventually, a cop had a lady pulled over, so I pulled up behind them. The cop didn’t like it, but the guy took off.

Second time wasn’t as peaceful - it was a high speed chase with the person behind me having reached for something (such as a gun). I managed to outsmart and lose that person, but it’s certainly not fun.

In neither case did I give them the bird, but for the first one, I didn’t like his tailgating so I kept slowing down, and he didn’t like that. In the second I did wave my arms around when he nearly pulled out in front of me. And in both cases, I could have avoided the damn thing, if I had half a brain.

“Did you make eye contact prior to the event?” and when the caller said yes the pol would throw up his hands and say “well there you go! you brought it on yourself!”

Yep, that’s the society we live in. In Europe if you’re a woman and you get forcibly raped, the police there will tell you to dress more modestly next time or it will happen again. In Japan you can dress any way you want and you still won’t be raped for it.

In New York City, decades of unrestrained liberalism created the largest crime wave that city ever saw during Dinkins (2000+ murders in one year - now they barely exceed 200 murders) - there simply wasn’t much the police could do, they didn’t create the crime wave, the politicians did, and they (the police) were as powerless as everyone else, except the politicians, to stop it.

We’re all forced to live in the societies we create. We either play by the rules of that society, or we risk the consequences.

Mind your own business and move on. How did not doing so work out for you?

Nothing to say. Just keep watching the news.

Charles Manson never evidenced a conscience

No,but I know from an excellent source that at least one of his followers has repented.
