Trump-branded straws sold as alternative to ‘liberal’ paper version

If you’re “so over” paper straws, you have company in the Trump campaign — and can shell out $15 to show it.

The president’s re-election campaign store is selling what it has branded “Trump Straws,” which it’s billing as an alternative to “liberal paper straws” that “don’t work.” A pack of 10 goes for $15. And while they’re not paper, the campaign does say they’re BPA free — as well as reusable and recyclable.

“Making Straws Great Again,” tweeted Brad Parscale, President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, with a link to the store. In a separate tweet, Parscale said he was “so over paper straws,” attaching a picture of a mangled straw in a plastic cup and likening it to what unidentified liberals would do to the economy: “Squeeze it until it doesn’t work.”

POLITICO @politico

Q: Are you in favor of banning plastic straws?

Trump: I do think we have bigger problems..[but] you know, it’s interesting about plastic straws. You have a little straw, but what about the plates, the wrappers & everything else that are much bigger and made of the same material?

He really knows how to spot the issues liberals foist on us that make ordinary folks crazy. I understand he’s rolling back the regulations that make dishwashers not work.

First they came for our light bulbs, then our shopping bags....

I never did figure out why we needed straws to drink a glass of soda. We have NEVER used a straw at home....except for ice cream sodas.

“WTF is a “paper straw????”

Waxed paper.

It was the straw of the sixties, and a cold thick McDonald’s milkshake would usually collapse them.

But they were fine for soft drinks stuff like that. In fact when you bought your milk in elementary school from the milk cart that came to each room you paid $0.02 for the milk and you got a paper straw to drink the milk out of the carton with.

Those were the days...

Ooh, just ordered a set and some matching koozies. I’ll be the life of the partay. :P

(I do feel somewhat greasy, though, first time I’ve made a ‘political donation’ in my life.)

They used to have them back in the day.

And THAT, my friend really tells you my age.

I remember sipping milk shakes through them. If I remember right, they had some kind of wax coating on them which made them stiffer and more durable.

Back then, there was no such thing as softer plastic-or at least much of it. All the car dash boards were metal or some kind of fiber. The door knobs were metal, the door liners were metal covered in hard plastic or fiber-meaning special paper fiber, Etc.

Ya, usually, I would get two straws to sip the milkshake through. Or just throw the dam things away and drink it without.

Another FReeper just told me that.

Also said the milk was 2 cents.

Now EMPTY soda cans are worth 5 cents.

Did you hear about the idiot liberal (redundant) that killed themself with a eco-friendly metal straw. Tripped or something and drove it into that small brain.

I used to get those small packets of planters peanuts from a vending machine for a nickel.

Then it went to a dime and I called them nickel peanuts for a dime.

They still sell them..at about a buck a packet.

Thats what happened after they took us off the gold and silver standard.

So we had to have ENOUGH GOLD for every dollar printed?

I took finance as a freshman in ‘86 and don’t even know if they told us that then.

Doesn’t sound like something a republican president would do.
