About a year ago I saw an open carry man here in NC mtn WalMart. No one said anything. In fact I doubt too many people noticed him.

I’ve seen one or two locally.

For certain Wally’s isn’t Dodge City.

“The first rule in security is to not reveal your security measures, lest someone set out to defeat them.”

Agreed. That’s why my tiger pit at the front door is covered by a welcome mat.

There's a guy who open carries at the vape shop that I use. Westminster, Colorado -North of Denver.
I open carry my gun-shaped vape all the time:

While mine kinda looks like the grip for a Luger, I conceal carry my Beretta.

I once thought open carry was retarded but am changing my mind. Now I want to have libtards seeing guns everywhere they go. Normalize it.

Exactly. There are a lot of folks, even here on FR who are against open carry. I'm not one of them. If enough of us do it often enough, it becomes normal, as it should be.

You’re not married to your wife’s sister so hose away. He probably needed a bath anyway. It’s all good.

It’s the pith helmet. Nobody’s gonna mess with a man wearing a pith helmet.

LOL. True enough.

I have an idea.

Pull your untucked Shirt over your Gun (like I do) and stop competing for a look at me award like Liberals do.

Both those places are Private Businesses. Pulling stunts like this will only result in their Posting Gun Free Zone Signs so you can’t “legally” carry concealed either.

(I am a believer in the tried and true belief that I would rather be judged by twelve than carried by six)

Don’t like their stance, go buy a controlling interest in their Stock and show up at a Shareholders Meeting to let them know what they need to do.

Just my $.02, your mileage may vary...

I have adopted this approach to protect from legal interactions. My question was more focused on what Walmart calls “open carry”.

The author must have been in a more rural area of AZ, like Prescott, Yuma, or Kingman. No one notices open carry or cares.

With that hat on he looks like he’s wearing a uniform and is some sort of park ranger.

When it comes to Walmart, you won't be by employees - they do not confront anyone, even shoplifters. The liability along with potential bad PR from stuff like vids popping up on Youtube is risky these days. AP calls the cops and tracks them through the store, when they leave out the doors they run smack into the open arms of the police.

“marktwain is the author.”

Unless they are the same person, Dean Weingarten is the author of the article and marktwain is the poster.

Most of the time, most people do not notice if a person is openly carrying a holstered pistol.

This is very true. I've been out with friends before who didn't notice for hours. I once had a family member (who knows I always carry) ask me if I'd forgotten my gun once. It was on my hip, where it had been for the hour or so since we'd been hanging out.

To the article, since all this hullabaloo about companies kinda-banning open carry, I've been to Wally World once, at their fuel pumps twice (only place nearby selling real gas), and been to Tom Thumb four or five times (owned by the Albertsons group, which I think was one of those whose CEO talked about not allowing it anymore?). I have yet to be asked to leave any of these places. And, half the staff at Tom Thumb know me and that I carry (once had a ten min conversation with one of the baggers about it, and how he was hoping to buy one soon). No issues yet, thankfully! Cause if Tom Thumb actually bans it, I've got nothing nearby that isn't anti-gun (WallyWorld grocery, Kroger, Sprouts...).
