Something very American about that story. Thanks.

We had a similar story when we were driving in Ireland. The difference was that the road we were on was about 10 feet wide and it was sheep. We did not mind following them at 5mph watching the sheep dogs doing their job of keeping the sheep going.

***Live hard...die young***

Reminds me of an old rock and roll song from the 1950s.

“I want’a live fast, love hard, die young,
And leave a beautiful memory...”

Hare Christners I believed that were called and they made a nuisance of themselves every place they inflicted airports, interstate rest stops to name two and probably city streets and side walks.

Odd that you should bring that up.

I am the Founder, President and sole member of “Car Flossers of America”. I use my time productively at red lights flossing. I know it looks gross to those around me but too bad. If you want to join CFoA you can’t. Our membership is full-up.

Now, I started KETO about a year ago. All my life my dental exam said that I had “pockets” of between 2mm and 3mm. I do not know what that is really but they always said I could do better. ??? Anyway, my last two exams since KETO showed the “pockets” at 1mm on all teeth. Don’t know if it is causal, but I’m takin’ it. ;o)

Went from 217lb. to 170lb. on KETO. Feel great, like what I am eating, having a little bit of a war with my cardiologist over it but he’s coming around.

a growing awareness of the environmental degradation caused by livestock production,

Except for the fact that the best way to turn vast acres of poor or marginal cropland into food is to let animals eat the vegetation and then eat the animals.

If you really want to see environmental degradation, take a bit of low nutrient, clay soil and dump piles of chemicals and oceans of water on it so that something useful will grow in it.

If you are basically northern European, meat or fish should be the base of your diet. Plant based food is wrong for two reasons. One is that plant based is another term for chemical lab based food. And secondly we are not built to have a plant based diet. We were hunter gathers. And gathering was closed for business 8 months out of the year. Farming came to Europe 5000 years ago. And it came to southern Europe while goats, and cows went north. We would be fat unhealthy diabetics if we listened to the elites dietary guidelines.

Notice how even ‘mainstream’ democrats are now increasingly attempting to force us all on a disgusting meatless vegan diet? Most of the demonrat candidates want to tax meat heavily somehow...

I don’t eat fast food, but even fast food places selling chemical-cocktail shitburgers made of 0% meat now.

It’s going the way if Singapore. Can’t eat Pork as it’s banned as it offends Muslims, can’t eat beef as it offends Hindus, can’t eat all meat as it offends some Buddhists.

“It is hard to find decent meat.”

That’s total BS. You sound like a liberal trying to use propaganda by saying bad thing about meat.

“to make cheap tasteless, dry, lean Frankenmeat”

Really? Not my experience. Good meat is easy to find. I’d prefer the option to buy directly from ranches but that doesn’t work where I live. But I have no trouble finding meat that is NOT dry, lean or tasteless.

Dear scientists. Ahem. Look at our teeth. They aren’t like cow teeth. Doesn’t that suggest anything. Come on, keep thinking, you can do it.

Talk about energy. A slab of lightly cooked beef liver will make you quite frisky. However, it can take years to get used to the taste. Worth it, though. Do what you must — bacon, wine sauce — but do it.
I’ve had years, been eating it since babyhood. To me it’s as good as a steak. It’s calf liver that’s nasty.

To avoid being placed on blood pressure medicine, I stay away from processed meats.

BTW, if fighting high blood pressure, stay the hell away from pizza. It’s absolutely one of the worst things you can eat because it hits you with a quadruple whammy...

salt from the meats(course, that one is easily avoidable), but salt also from the bread, cheese, and especially the canned tomato product.

Now it has been discovered, by actual science (understanding delivery mechanisms), that carbohydrates are much worse for people and are the real culprits for the obesity/diabetes epidemic.

Villainizing any food group is just plain stupid and not backed up by science any more than “global warming” is backed up by science. Humans are omnivores and that means that we tend to be healthiest when we eat a wide variety of nutritious foods. The obsession with cutting out plant based foods that are sources of carbohydrates is the latest fad and is every bit as unwise as trying to cut out all proteins or fats. Claiming that “science” backs up this type of nonsense is pure stupidity.

Every cell in your body needs sugars to survive. If you do not eat foods that contain carbohydrates, the sugars that your cells need to live are produced by your body by converting fats and proteins to sugar through complex metabolic processes.

The root cause of obesity is and always will be eating more food than your activity level and base metabolism can use on a daily basis. The excess food is converted and stored as body fat. There are legitimate reasons why certain currently favored fad diets actually do get results for some people. The problem is that these results are often temporary, and a diet that does not provide a good variety of nutrients almost always has negative health consequences in the long run.

I was once a very successful cycling road racer. I typically averaged over 300 miles a week. It would not have been possible for me to train at the same level of intensity if I had not been eating a lot of carbohydrates before, after and during my rides. I can assure you that I ate plenty of fat and protein as well, but carbohydrates were the foundation of my diet. It is only in a largely sedentary society that people can get away with almost completely cutting carbohydrates out of their diets. We had difficulty with firefighters on low carbohydrate diets collapsing at fires and during other strenuous activities. One of my drivers had to be reassigned to communications because of this.
