Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an impassioned speech about gun violence Friday in announcing a ban on 1,500 types of firearms.
While Trudeaus speech carried emotional weight, there is one glaring problem with the bans implementation how can the nations government ensure citizens turn over their now-banned weapons when there is no way to know exactly how many such firearms are in circulation?
Effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country, Trudeau declared, even though police believe the weapons used in the Nova Scotia attack were obtained illegally anyway.
Even if there were a registry, whats to stop owners from simply reporting that they misplaced their firearms at the bottom of a lake while out fishing?
But like all gun control measures, this ban puts the onus on responsible, rule-following citizens, knowing they will largely comply. Meanwhile, criminals will continue to break the law anyway and keep whatever guns they choose.
Therein lies the problem with all gun control if law-abiding citizens do what theyre told, they will be defenseless against the criminals who will be armed anyway.

Making decisions based on emotions is a bad idea in the first place
it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country,
= = =
So ...
Can’t use
Can’t transport
Can’t sell
What’s left?
Supposedly gun owners in Germany towed their guns with a string down to the cop shop to turn them in.
1500 types of firearms .... did they list EVERY firearm every made?
“I see a surge in boating accidents.”
“Boating accidents” are not the issue here. Tyrants like Trudeau and just about every Democrat in the USA are not really after your guns. They are after you.
It seems like there's a lot of gun owners who talk the talk but when the SHTF they're going to be among the first ones to give up their guns. I just think that raw American spirit is completely gone now and you'll see some people on our side still thinking that they'll wait until the next election to vote them out. This 2020 election is really patriot's last stand because the Deep State is angry from 2016 and if they sweep into power, you can bet that they're going to go after us with a vengeance.
How did Canada ban guns? Did Prime Minister Trudeau just say so himself? Or was it a law passed by Canadian Parliamrnt?
Am watching IS PARIS BURNING?(1966) I think I will keep my guns. The first part looks too much like the US under lock down.
I am not able to turn in my guns at this point in time...social distancing and all
***military-grade assault weapons***
Are any of the firearms on the “Naughty List” modern military grade? What modern armies are armed with these rifles?
They have guns in Canada?
“How did Canada ban guns? Did Prime Minister Trudeau just say so himself?”
That is EXACTLY what Trudeau has done, by executive order, Parliament be damned. Issued a list of banned weapons he drew up himself.
And make no mistake, the RCMP will shoot to kill any miscreants who dare disobey. Freedom-loving Canadians are a targeted class who will be betrayed by their fellow subjects; watch for snitch hotlines and websites where no names need be given.
“I am not able to turn in my guns at this point in time...social distancing and all”
Plus, with my being environmentally sensitive and not wanting to drive, how could I carry them all?
Effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country,
Of course we all know that he’s talking about banning a lot of things that don’t correlate to that descriptor.
This jerk wouldnt know the difference between a slingshot and a pistol. I doubt any Canadian civilians own Andy military grade firearms. Very few Americans do.
While the USA leads the pack by a wide margin, Canada is #7 in the world’s gun-ownership leaderboard.
We saw the same thing when Canada imposed its stupid gun registry some years ago. There were an estimated 6 million firearms in Canada at the time. When only 1 million were registered, the Chretien government simply announced there were only 1 million firearms in total and that they obviously overestimated it. None of the nitwits in government wanted to admit that more than 80% of the gun owners had refused to comply with the law.
When was the last time the RCMP shot anyone? Arent they just tour guides at national parks in Canada? :-P
The failed registry was supposed to be the prelude to the confiscation...
