Grown men (many now tattooed & pierced thugs), getting dirty rich for playing with a ball with other rich, grown men, and other men and women getting rich for talking about the rich, grown men that play with balls...that’s pro sports.

And how many American men know more about pro sports than about their childrens’ schools or neighbors or county government?

And I pay more for beer and pizza because they pay a lot to advertise on pro sports shows.

It’s made me sick my whole life that they just can’t leave the damn game alone. They just have to meddle and tinker until they’ve gutted it, don’t they?

Will pass on watching / listening to any games this season. Not having fans present takes away part of the “spirit” of the game. Hopefully next year.

In the meantime, the entire 2019 season is available to listen to at TuneIn, which is what I have been using to listen to games of interest that I missed last year.

This was long before the rule AL rule change. Your dunk has been denied.

"How does pitchers not hitting make the games take longer?"

Great question. Over 40 seasons they have found that the American league games are 4.95 minutes longer. And there was 74 extra inning games in the National league v. 73 extra inning games in the American league in 2018. So they are very close with and without the DH.

It would not be an actual difference in clock time. But instead it would make the game to be perceived to be longer due to the pitcher killing innings. I have attended some high scoring America League games and felt it was over in a blink of an eye. I traveled to watch Pittsburgh play Montreal to a 1-0 win and felt like the life had been sucked out of me has I drank that Iron City beer.

Bumgardener. Is amazing.

Lowest ERA in works series. All time.

In one WS game 7 for giants he came in the fifth and threw 5 no no innings for win

WE JUST NEED BASEBALL BACK. ( for a good distraction in summer )

I didn’t even know they were going to have a baseball season, let alone with different rules. This is literally the first I have heard of it. With the NFL, all I hear is bad, Colon Crapernick, or Hitler references. OH, a QB is getting a contract worth the entire salary of what should be, and they all would be overpaid at that.

I used to love baseball, played it growing up, loved
the tactics of the coaches but the players strike
and now all this meddling with the game just doesn’t
do anything for me.

No crying in baseball!

In 1950, before big TV contracts and pre-free-agency, the average annual salary of an American worker was $2,876, while the average baseball player earned about $13,228. It was a different era.

I would go with no points for a loss ever. Problem with giving OT losers a point is when you get late in the 3rd with a tie the teams park the bus to protect that point. 3 for regulation win, 2 for normal OT win, 1 for shootout win, 0 points for all losses. Make teams CHASE points rather than protect them.

I don’t care about rule changes, but if they continue to pander to BLM mobs, then I’m done with it. Guess I’ll have to learn to like ice hockey until it goes full woke, too.

Speaking of the Anthem, are they going to play the black national anthem like the NFL is going to do?

I will tolerate the DH for this screwed up year.

If they decide to keep it then I’m gone after 35+ years of being a Cardinals fan.

I’ll miss baseball but I have gotten used to major losses the last 5 years and I will eventually get adjusted to not having it be a big part of my daily life for most of a year.

I have a feeling I will need a new screen name next year.

I have always liked the designated hitter, and I grew up playing and watching baseball in the 1950s.

I want to see a guy who can really hit in the batter’s box, not some pitcher who takes batting practice once a week.

Extra innings?

They should play one full inning - then, sudden death if the game is still tied.

Advantage - visiting team, but so what?

If you are playing at home, it's a great incentive to win in nine innings.

>>Speaking of the Anthem, are they going to play the black national anthem like the NFL is going to do?<<

Probably. If you can stand to see a game, expect “I Like Big Butts” to be played right after the “Star Spangled Banner” followed by:

“We’re Turning Japanese” - Asian Anthem
“It’s No Fun Being An Illegal Alien” - Latino Anthem
“Casino Royale” - American Indian Anthem
