(Vanity) Lake Mead Crisis in CA, wildfires, drought

Years back I believe the discussion of building desalination plants along the coast of California was met with quite the blowback from elitists and Hollywoodites. Do you think the same exists now?

“met with quite the blowback from elitists and Hollywoodites”

Yes, except for the private plants they will install at their beach mansions.

California could have built plenty of desalination plants but they chose to flush at least $15 billion on a train that never got built.

They could have performed the necessary earthquake repairs on the state’s dams a few decades ago in prevent the continued release of collected water into the streams and rivers, to the bays, and out to the ocean. Maybe build a few more water storage facilities in the state. And maybe prevent 5+ million illegals from entering the state and further stretch the state’s resources. Okay, the last one was never going to happen.

California has about a dozen or so desalinization plants.

Same thing happened with nuclear reactors, now Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have been cleared to build one in Montana.

They will soon be granted exclusive rights to build nuclear-powered desalination plants.

Our desalination plant here in San Diego works well. We are trying to build more, but the left makes it difficult.

Imagine if we spent California’s High Speed Rail money on desalination. We could have completed 20 Desalination Plants like the one in San Diego, producing a significant quantity of the water needed for San Diego and Los Angeles Counties. Instead, we have about 100 miles of useless track in the middle of farmland. No stations, no trains, no riders. All we have is a 100 mile long monument to corruption.

They’ll be buying natgas or diesel generators soon, too, if they haven’t already. It’s what happens in the 3rd World when places have unreliable electrical service, the rich put in generators.

Cali does this shit ever year it has a major drought. With a budget well in surplus, they could fund dozens of desalination plants and pump that clean water inland. But then.. that’s to much on the solution side. Liberal filth want ISSUES, not solutions.

CA sucks up resources like a giant vacuum. Southern CA alone probably has 8,00,000 lawns, landscaping and another million with swimming pools... I’ve seen pools so big it takes *days* to drain them into the streets and gutters. It’s a colossal epic waste of resources.

True that. I just bought a trifuel - gasoline/natgas/propane - portable. Never intend to put gasoline in it.

But for the whole house ones that the rich are/will be putting in, it’ll be diesel, natgas, or, as you point out, propane.

250 gallon propane tanks seem to be standard. I suppose zoning rules how big a tank you can have.

Cali does this shit ever year it has a major drought.

I've seen the water in LA's concrete rivers nearly touching overpasses, at the top of the banks, moving real fast. These giant gutters can be 400' across and 30+ feet deep. And it all goes straight to the ocean. Trillions of gallons wasted every time the big storms hit.. They could have created reservoirs the size of Pasadena and 100 feet deep.
