Count the Disputed Mail-In Votes in Pennsylvania Primary for GOP Senate Nomination
National Review ^ | 5/25/22 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Posted on 05/25/2022 3:42:52 PM PDT by conservative98

As the Wall Street Journal relates in an editorial published Monday evening, a dispute has arisen over the counting of mail-in ballots in the closely contested Republican primary election in Pennsylvania between David McCormick and Dr. Mehmet Oz. The candidates seek the party’s nod to run against ailing Democratic nominee, John Fetterman, for the seat now occupied by retiring Republican Senator Pat Toomey.

Clearly, the ballots should be counted.

As Politico reports, the Third Circuit ruled that hundreds of undated mail-in votes should be counted because they were received on time. The court has not yet issued its formal opinion explaining the ruling, but it did make clear that the dating requirement is “immaterial” under federal law — specifically, the civil-rights law excerpted above.

Count the votes.

1. Wrong, National Review! This is not a federal civil rights issue.— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) May 25, 2022

2. This is a lawsuit intended to change existing campaign law in Pennsylvania, in violation of Article II AND the state's constitution (where change in election laws require input by the citizens and other significant hurdles). Do NOT count the defective absentee ballots.— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) May 25, 2022

3. That's what the leftwing Democrats want and do. And this is why the RNC and PA state GOP are OPPOSED to this desperate lawsuit. https://t.co/lN9DEYn0WF— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) May 25, 2022

Remember the Florida fiasco...where they tried to change the rules after the count had started.

If you’re too stupid to follow simple written instructions, you shouldn’t be voting. Period. End of story.

Sorry, but I do not like changing the rules in the middle of the game.

This should NOT be happening.

If McCormick wins the lawsuit then Democrats will flood the MidTerms with undated mail-in ballots and they will rightly be able to say that the matter was decided in the republican primaries.

Andrew McCarthy used to be the only person I read and respected at National Review.

In 2020, he attacked Trump and Republicans for the January 6th Voter Fraud speech and demonstration.

Now this.

Bye, Andrew.

Bye, National Review.

A court decision by the Commonwealth’s highest court holds that mail-in voters must comply with technical requirements, including the dating requirement, in order for their votes to count.

End of discussion.

I have no respect for Andrew McCarthy. No wonder why he had no problem with the 2020 mail-in ballot election.

Agreed. For a while the only things good about NRO were McCarthy and VDH.

McCarthy changed his tune about the time VDH left. Buckley is probably rolling in his grave.

His hate-on for Trump started in 2016 after the Bushes got their butt whooped.

Andy McCarthy: Trump GOP no longer my party, I’m out http://fb.me/1nab1XGHz

“Whoever wins, I know that come January, I will be in the (pseudo)-conservative opposition to a statist administration, and in search of a new party to call home.”

Boris Epshteyn said exactly the same thing. This will set a precedent for the Democrats to “flood the zone” with inadequate ballots.

No freaking way!

They have a legitimate argument for counting them:

The postmark is sufficient proof that the ballots were received on time, making the hand-written date entered by the voter redundant.

The 2020 election was stolen by including ballots which were counterfeited, improperly harvested or coerced, entered multiple times, or intercepted and altered.

No one is saying these PA are not valid - they were real votes by real eligible voters - and they were received on time.

Trying to exclude valid ballots on a technicality only weakens our argument - and it supports the Democrat narrative that Republicans are just out to disenfranchise certain voters.

If someone cannot complete the ballot out properly then the ballot should not be counted period.

I wouldn’t mind if the local registrar’s office contacted the voter to give them a chance to correct the ballot but allowing this will open a “pandora’s box” that the Democraps can use to continue their cheating.
