A senior editor at the Washington Post sparked outrage online after tweeting on Thursday that the rifle used in the horrific mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, this week was “invented for Nazi infantrymen.”
Marc Fisher tweeted on Thursday: “Invented for Nazi infantrymen, further developed by the US military, the AR-15 was the Texas school shooter’s weapon of choice…” A Washington Post editor angered people online when he tweeted on Thursday that the AR-15 rifle used in mass shootings in Texas, Las Vegas, and Connecticut was "invented for Nazi infantrymen." Marc Fisher tweeted on Thursday: “Invented for Nazi infantrymen, further developed by the US military, the AR-15 was the Texas school shooter’s weapon of choice…”

Better Ban Jerrycans too, Hitler wanted those.
The AK was ,LOL
The first semiautomatic assault rifle was the Sturmgehwehr-44. This predated the M16A1 by 20 years.
More accurately say that about WP editorial staff.
Shouldn’t the senior editor of the Washington Post like National Socialists?
Say what you will about the Wehrmacht, they were damn good soldiers. The idea of a light infantry rifle capable of automatic fire can trace some of its legacy to the SG44, but it was probably inevitable. The M-16 was the epitome of the concept, and the AR-15 was a civilian counterpart.
Wouldn’t that be a good thing for the Washington Post editor since he and his paper have fully supported the neo-Nazis in Ukraine?
Gun control was used by the Nazis to subdue the population.
I think the term “assault rifle” was originally German, but many countries experimented with semi-automatic or automatic rifles, and got the idea that a smaller rifle with a caliber smaller than what the bolt-action rifles had might be practical. But yeah, anything the left doesn’t like, from guns to freedom of speech to you owning your own car, is “Nazi.”
It takes too long to say vier und vierzig.
Hugo Boss designed the SS uniforms. Bet this cuck as at least one garment in his closet from ol’ Hugo.
So this clown wants to ban Volkswagens too??
I recall reading about how Volkswagen was known as “The Peoples Car” during the Hitler years in Germany. Didn’t seem to stop the Beetle or the van from becoming hip vehicles during the 1960s.
Yeah, the Nazis had a time machine too.
The AR-15 design was created some 80 years ago? Who knew?
And the Nazis used to punch holes in the Allied Forces in the Battle of the Bulge? Why are we only learning this NOW?
The weapon of choice for most of the Wehrmacht up through 1945 was the Mauser carbine. Walther carbines were also widely used.
Some of what vaguely resembled the AR-15 were also produced, but close examination would have disclosed great differences in design.
The Soviets wanted an assault rifle like it. Kalishnikov developed one with only four pieces, the AK-47. Very rugged and so simple to use, illiterate peasants could use it.
As the author drives home in his Mercedes-Benz G Class, commissioned for the Afrika Korps. :)
I thought the Nazis invented the ‘Acht two lever’ repeating rifle, much loved by Chuck Conners!
