The article has several URL links to other good references on this topic. The Left, with its many diversity mandates, is corrupting science just like it has corrupted the rest of academia. One of my students, who is in the physics PhD program at MIT, has sent me evidence of this at his campus. It is realy a shame what the Left has done to colleges, and so many other aspects of life.

Science is disappearing from science.

Dennis Prager said it best: the lefties ruin everything they touch.

Dissent is disappearing in science

The Scientific "Consensus": "God does not exist. Science is God. Science exists. So shut up. Period."

Anyone who was in school prior to the millenium was taught that the one true constant was math. Math has been declared racist so basically anything goes. Thank you for playing and thank you for all the fish!

I remember the Scientific American. Full of theoretical and practical science articles that I could barely understand.

Today it’s a leftist rag. I read in it a couple of years ago a description of the Y, male chromosome as “puny.” This from a magazine that calls itself scientific.

Scientific American is worth nothing.

Science has become a religion, heresy is the new crime.

While the top priest might not be allow to burn heretic at the stake, they can shun them as well as marginalize them.

Ironic that cancel culture was born in the “free speech” movements in universities during the 1960.

I grew up in the 1950s reading Scientific American. Martin Gardner's articles showed me how to make hexaflexagons!

The magazine was a cornerstone of science and it was heartbreaking to watch it devolve into its present decay. I stopped looking at it in the mid-1990s.

Scientific dissent almost disappeared in the 50s as well, when science was positive it knew everything and it wad just a mater of filling in the details - its cyclical. Don’t put a lot on it.

Many folks may view my posts as anti-science when in fact what I am against is the massive use of federal funds to skew scientific research.

The ideological censorship is a major issue.

Another (less discussed) but equally important issue is that the use of federal grants narrows the vision of science so it just confirms existing paradigms.

Anything “out of the box” becomes unfundable which means that true scientific progress gets crippled.

Scientists are always tempted to ignore outlying data that does not fit with their hypotheses, and of course the more established they are the greater their defense of existing paradigms since their reputations are often based on them.

They are also tempted to “fudge” data to make sure it meets the “goals” of the grants.

Then there is the peer pressure to conform or be considered a “kook”.

The result is group-think that can easily devolve into stupidity.

“Follow the science” these days often means obey or starve.

I have degrees in science from both MIT and Harvard. And I am appalled at how WOKE both universities have become!!!!

I am also appalled at how one has to pick through all the WOKE articles in MAJOR scientific journals in order to find the real science!!!! Who knows how much wokeness has infected peer review as well!!!!
