Roald Dahl's beloved children's books are being rewritten by sensitivity gurus to remove language they deem offensive, including creating a world where no one is 'fat' and the Oompa Loompas are gender neutral.
Publisher Puffin has hired sensitivity readers to rewrite chunks of the author's text to make sure the books 'can continue to be enjoyed by all today', resulting in extensive changes across Dahl's work.

If it is edited like that, then it isn’t the book. I would never buy a book like that. Let the publisher be stuck with its junk.
I think when you let the movie industry into the process, anything can happen. Charlie became Willy Wonka for instance.
We constantly hear complaints about Hollywood from authors. You sign your life away. As may be necessary with the much greater expenses and investment involved in movies than in books.
Also some works under copyright may have become legally the property of his heirs.

This is such a screwball idea, I’m wondering if it’s just a hoax, like those Trans from Norway pretending to be ‘injured’ by hearing the song “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman”.
A few days after it hit the news cycle, there was a comment from those Norweigien Trans, saying they were not serious.
By that time, most people assumed that they were very serious.
How communist of them.
I use to have all Dahl’s books. Making sure I go to book sales and get copies of them. Next thing you know someone is going to complain about the smile on the Mona Lisa, and paint over it. No difference, his works are masterpieces in child literature.
Puffin is the publishing company. Don’t think this is a hoax.
Mona Lisa’s smile might be taken to be making fun of someone, and who knows what traumas that could trigger?
A modest proposal — publish books as they were written, and let people decide whether or not they want to buy and read them.
