There was an era when Hollywood celebrities and film creators were treated as a kind of modern royalty, a representation of the heights to which the average person could strive and “make it big.” The glitz and the glamour were viewed as the culmination of the American dream. But as with all fantasies, the story must end and reality must return. Was the movie business always a farce? Yes. However, it was a farce that the public held up even in the worst of times as something of value; something more that frivolity.
In the spans of around 7 years Hollywood has lost every ounce of social capital they had gained in the past century. That takes an epic level of ignorance and arrogance. It takes criminal levels of malicious intent and an unprecedented display of stupidity. The populace was willing to put up with almost any level of degeneracy from Tinsel Town as long as they could make compelling movies, and yet, they couldn’t even do that.

Three 6 Mafia Remember Their Shocking Oscar Win for ‘It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp’: ‘Nobody Saw That One Coming’

The evil underbelly being a main driver of people turning from their wickedness and not giving heed to they’re dark throne. This shaking that’s going on in our country and around the world of not being able to quote unquote depend on what you used to be able to depend on will be the direct reason people turn to Christ. And I think it’s already happening in droves
I had some fun posting to a (leftist) Reddit discussion group that had a bunch of Hollywood writers in it.
I suggested that the supply of talented writers far exceeded the demand so that basic Economics would suggest that their wages should go down.
They went ballistic—lol.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is still AWOL from the picket lines...
Please note that if you buy your Internet service from any company with cable television holdings then you are subsidizing their losing cable television operations...
FYI.

Yeah, but hidden and kept secret during that period was the fact that some of the stars were really repugnant human beings- rapists, pedophiles, murderers etc- Back then it was covered up- today it’s celebrated almost-
LOL- Guess you won’t be invited to their Christmas parties lol
I think most people got sick of financing Hollywood degenerates.
Guess it depends on the definition of the word "strike", eh?
I noticed the quality coming from Hollywood had gone way down ever since the MeToo movement became a thing a couple years ago. Hollywood is so woke so they forgot how to entertain. Best example? James Bond. He's no longer a womanizer. But that's not Bond.
I saw that and Mission Impossible. I liked both. So I'll go to the theater if the movie's good. I saw Top Gun too.
The plots are completely sophomoric, tons of slang and other street dialogue, grade ‘0’ actors who are photogenic bimbos who only portray crudely one dimensional characters, wall to wall ‘action’ and other mindless and computerized trivialities, etc.
In the meantime, ticket prices are stupid.
Well going on strike against an industry is different than against a company. There are movie studios that aren’t in AMPTP, so technically they aren’t really striking against them. That’s where all these interim agreements are coming from, indie studios agreeing on a project by project basis to abide by the demands of the strike and thus get the go ahead. Technically since they aren’t in AMPTP they don’t even need the agreement, but they’re doing it just to make sure nobody is getting called a scab.
It’s really bad for the AMPTP studios because a lot of these indie studios have been eating their lunch already. A24 makes better money on their movies than the blockbusters, cause they make better movies. And now they’re going to be the only companies releasing product soon. Alex Cox is filming a movie in November, we might actually see him get a wide release for the first time in 30 years.
I could care less about Hollywood in this day and age.
I know I did!
I agree, it’s always the same old junk, just wrapped up in a different package!
Ricky Gervais gained a lot more respect from me after that!
