It would be bad for conservatives, because that is a lot of electoral votes we would lose. Now if we could get all red states to secede in unison, that would be a different matter entirely.

I think that TX put that right (to secede) in their state constitution and the feds agreed to it.

“If Texas secedes, then they cannot vote in federal elections. No electoral votes for Trump or any future Republican Presidential candidates. No Republican Senators or Representatives in Congress.”

Those terms are acceptable. It also means no federal taxes paid either!

Thank you for referencing that article eastexsteve.

"Texas could vote on referendum to secede from the United States this spring"

Speaking of secession, why don't Texans support a referendum that would support hopeful Trump 47 in leading all the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes and likewise unconstitutional interference in the affairs of the sovereign states?

More specifically, Texans need to lead ALL the states to effectively “secede” from the unconstitutionally big federal government by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A).

Consider the repealing of 16&17A as part of reparations for victim taxpayers of the unconstitutionally big federal government having to pay a lifetime of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers and a few other constitutionally enumerated expenses.

Finally, consider that corrupt political party and media fuss about "obsolete" electoral college is because the electoral college is the only thing stopping the corrupt political parties from establishing a permanent puppet presidency that will unquestioningly sign unconstitutional taxing and spending bills into law.

Never happens...they’d still need approval by both houses of Congress and 3/4 of the states.

Not seeing that.

I’ll believe TX is serious when it gets its budgetary house in order.

Until then...

Well, talk is cheap, isn’t it...

So the Supreme Court’ has said but to me the relevant principle is stated in the Declaration of Independence, and no court can overrule that.

Opinions vary. But one thing is clear: a constitutional convention or amendement could rewrite all the rules, and allow for splitting up the country.

Whether it is the sane states leaving or kicking out the dysfunctional ones, it’s time for a divorce.

That’s an interesting map. I can’t help but notice there is more blue in Texas than there is in NY.

As a Texan from an old Hispanic family, I’m reasonably certain that if secession happens, Texans will not be asking congress or any states pretty please before we do it-we are WAY beyond permission from the corrupt swamp-and I’ll also bet that some southern states will come along, too, with some western ones to follow shortly...
