“So you actually believe this?

“Neo Nazis and the far right are on the march in Ukraine” (Lev Golinken in 2019) and “The CIA may be breeding Nazi terror in Ukraine”

It is said that some comparisons are odious. In this case, you have made a comparison between two of the "odious." Sadly the list is longer than that, and so many have (D) behind their government titles.

Did the U.S. provoke Russia into seizing Crimea during Obama's term?

Obama told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev "after my election I have more flexibility."

Medvedev replied that he would "transmit this information to Vladimir,"

Then, Obama did nothing about the annexation of Crimea or the Russian invasion of the Donbass region except to deny lethal weapons to Ukraine.

Yes, this is all provocation by Obama/Biden for an ulterior motive. The Ukrainian citizenry are not a factor to either of them.

That is mostly a list of President Trump’s actions.

Your statement tacks in the right direction, IMO.

Saying that Russia instigated violence because their sensibilities were so piqued they couldn’t help themselves is like saying “the urban violence following George Floyd’s death occurred because black people automatically resort to mayhem because it’s in their bio-socio-ethical makeup to do so. It’s in their DNA; they can’t stop themselves. They can’t behave civilly because they’re from Africa. They’re tribal. They can’t help themselves.”

That’s the logic of saying Russia “had to” invade. It’s insulting to everyone involved, including those of us who read about it.

An interesting article from 9 June 2016. Here is an excerpt of an article from 25 February 2022:

"Shortly after U.S. President Joe Biden took office, he launched a 'strategic stability dialogue' with Russia, with the aim of finalizing a new strategic arms control deal and pursuing possibilities for new negotiations on cyberattacks and cutting-edge nuclear weapons technology.

"That dialogue has now been completely halted, officials and sources familiar with the matter confirmed, as Putin continues his all-out military assault on Ukraine and has threatened any country thinking of intervening with 'consequences like you've never seen.' The U.S. State Department is still clarifying diplomatic guidance for U.S. interactions with Russia moving forward.

"The halt in arms talks could have outsized significance after Putin made veiled threats about Russia's nuclear weapons arsenal in the runup to Russia's invasion of Ukraine—though Western officials caution that any chance of a nuclear escalation over the Russian invasion remains highly remote.

"...In 2019, under then-U.S. President Donald Trump, the United States formally withdrew from a Cold War-era treaty with Russia to eliminate intermediate-range nuclear forces (INF) that could strike between a range of around 310 to 3,400 miles, accusing Russia of having violated the treaty by testing and deploying missile systems that the treaty banned. All NATO allies backed Trump's decision and blamed Russia's violations for the INF treaty's demise. But some arms control experts still criticized the move at the time, voicing fears that Trump was dismantling an important arms control regime before exhausting all avenues to salvage the treaty.

After entering office, Biden vowed to reverse Trump-era arms control policies and revive arms talks on a variety of weapons systems with Moscow."

Biden Halts Russian Arms Control Talks Amid Ukraine Invasion Foreign Policy, 25 February 2022.

Post sanctions and after two years of war, arms control talks are going nowhere. Time will tell. Tick tock.

“”””The Rand report lists many techniques and “measures” to provoke and threaten Russia. Some of the steps include:
Repositioning bombers within easy striking range of key Russian strategic targets
Deploying additional tactical nuclear weapons to locations in Europe and Asia
Increasing US and allied naval force posture and presence in Russia’s operating areas (Black Sea)
Holding NATO war exercises on Russia’s borders
Withdrawing from the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty””””

That is the 2019 “RAND report” produced during President Trump’s administration.

You opposed Trump’s National Defense policies and think he provoked Russia to invade Ukraine?

""""""For example, NATO conducted massive war exercises dubbed “Defender 2021” right up Russia’s border."""""

The map of the 9,000 man or so exercise that took place after the Russian invasion shows it to be less dramatic than you made it sound, this looks like the places NATO would have to have an exercise, and most of the exercise was in Germany, Romania, and Portugal.

it wasn't an invasion; it was the liberation of ethnic Russian territories, as witness to the elections in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Luhansk and Donetsk. These territories are now part of the Russian Motherland.

Didn't I tell you to use pictures that work?

Your post 2 is the 2019 “RAND report” produced during President Trump’s administration.

In post 2 you are attacking President Trump’s National Defense policies and claiming he provoked Russia to invade Ukraine.

His canceling the INF treaty you gave special mention.
