Janet Reno facing possible upset in Florida (Claims She Can Beat Bush)

MIAMI - Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno ( news - web sites) made a last-minute pitch to voters Monday as she tried to stop political novice Bill McBride from pulling off a major upset in the race for the Democratic nomination for governor of Florida.

The winner of Tuesday's primary will face first-term Republican Gov. Jeb Bush in November.

In all, 12 states will select candidates for governor, House and Senate on the busiest day of the election season yet.

McBride, a Tampa lawyer, went from obscurity back in January to a dead heat in the polls against Reno, attorney general during the Clinton administration.

McBride has been more successful raising money and bought more television time than his opponent. He also gained a reputation of being the candidate Bush least wants to face; Republicans have spent millions of dollars on ads attacking McBride.

While Reno has high name recognition, many Democrats fear she cannot beat Bush, who is unopposed in the primary.

Reno spent Monday wrapping up her second pickup-truck tour of the state and trying to push aside doubts about her ability to win on Tuesday and in the final election in November.

"The real question on people's mind is, can I beat Jeb Bush?" Reno told supporters in West Palm Beach after arriving in her trademark red pickup. "You better believe I can beat Jeb Bush."

As for the primary, she said: "Not only am I not worried about losing, I'm not going to lose. I'm going to win because I feel I've got more experience at making the hard decisions in public service."

McBride, a former Marine who won a Bronze Star in Vietnam, addressed a veterans lodge and union workers helping his campaign during a swing through Orlando.

"What we need is a big turnout," McBride said. "That will be a good indication that we need a change in government."

If McBride wins, it could make it a more interesting race in November, said Matthew Corrigan, a University of North Florida political science professor.

"The Bush campaign already has the book on how to deal with ex-Clinton appointees: You make it a values campaign and try to emphasis education," Corrigan said. "McBride forces the Bush campaign to basically change the playbook because he is a different type of candidate."

Besides the Florida contest, there are races in New Hampshire, Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.

Give her directions at night that send her off a short pier on a long drive.

I believe that God has removed himself from the process of selecting a Democrat gubernatorial nominee in FL. After all, has not the FL "democracy" purged itself of God? I think that God will leave the FL "democracy" to its own reprobate minds.

Neither of thes insane looking jokes have a snowballs chance in hell of beating Jeb.

They actually want to sabotage the good work Jeb and the GOP are doing in this state.

I want her to get trounced good in the primary. Put her away once and for all, and even better, her loss will be perceived as repudiation for the Clinton administration.

Let's do what we can to support Janet Reno:
McBride (or anyone else) would do much better against Jeb Bush than she.

Very tough, Janet.....burning innocent children at Waco & armed kidnapping & return of Elian to Castro's dictatorship!

You make a good point but it would be much sweeter to defeat her in a JEB landslide in November! Besides watching her debate JEB would be great fun.

Yea, like stealing children in the night to send back to a commie hell hole and incinerating little children because their parents just want to be left alone.

LOL Despite the pundents, I think she's the only candidate that can lick Bush.

OOOH! OOOO! Noooo! NOOOOO! Arrrrghhhh! Ack!

Janet’s ability to lick Bush is not a political factor and its effect on the outcome of the governor’s race will be negligible.

Just think of the bumper stickers you could do with that!

If she were a conservative candidate, the media in the Florida area would be playing re-runs of Waco and of the Elian snatching round-the-clock.

Course there wouldn't be a Waco or an Elian-snatching if she weren't a Clinton C*****ker.

G***am Bill and Hillary Clinton and their evil minions--Janet Reno being one of the most vile to be sure.

Got to bring out my oldie again--a parody I wrote when I signed up on FR shortly after the Elian snatching:

SHAKE JANET RENO (To the Tune "Shake, Rattle and Roll")

REFRAIN:
Shake Janet Reno/ I said Shake Janet Reno
Shake Janet Reno/ I said Shake Janet Reno
The longer she stays/ The faster our freedoms go!

VERSE 1:
Billy Says Jump/ Janet says Yessiree!
"Snatch that kid/ And do it A.S.A.P.
Fire up the Osprey/ Fly'm to Fidel for me!

Like a one-eyed cat/ Winkin' at the Blue Dress goo
Hear No/ See No/ Speak No evil too
Gotta bad case/ Of the 'I don't remember' Flu!

REFRAIN:

VERSE 2: Poor Little 'Nitta/ He treated her like a Ho
"Ice that lip/ Cause honey I gotta go"
The harder she fought/ The benter his mini-pole!

Kathleen Willey/ Visitin' Clinton's home
Pawin' her over/ Gropin' until he blows
The same with Paula/ Willie just goes and goes!

VERSE 3:
DOJ/ Lookin' into such and such
Billy Boy eff's up/ Reno gotta clean it up
"The Buck Stops Here"/ (Shredded, diced and cut!)

Like a wobbly top/ Reno gotta silly walk
Clams up bigtime/ Everytime she's asked to talk
Ain't life grand/ Bobbin' on Willie's ***k!

REFRAIN:

VERSE 4:
Shakin' on account/ Of voices in her head
"Just to save'em/ Gonna have to make 'em dead"
Never gonna change/ Sleepin' in Billy's bed (eeeeew!)

Standin' with Janet/ Standin' on shaky ground
From the Red Planet/ Not just another Town
Needs no warrant/ To blow your houses down!

REFRAIN AND FADE OUT:
Shake Janet Reno/ I said Shake Janet Reno
Shake Janet Reno/ I said Shake Janet Reno
Can't do a thing/ To save Bill Clinton's soul!
