Anyone hear the rumour about a rapper named 50cent? He belongs to Emimem. He supposedly was shot, killed yesterday 50Cent performed live in Dallas last night according to the newspaper here, so I don't think he's dead.

I haven't heard any of this. I know she hasn't said anything stupid (yet). Her father is Ravi Shankar, the Indian sitar player, who did play with some hippies in the 1960s and 1970s. I don't think ANY of her songs could be interpreted as anti-war. So I think you're hearing rumors.

Be thankful you never became a musician. It only leads to insanity. Trust me. Second that. Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be musicians. Let'em be politicians, ambulance chasers and dictators and such.

buster rhymes was shot at on the way to the grammy awards show, he presented so i would imagine he's OK.
i was so happy norah jones won...beautiful, dignified, and stupendously talented.who knows, maybe good music is on the way back.

her father is Ravi Shankar, not known for being a musical slouch himself. Don't sell yourself short Ravi you are a great slouch.

JP-I believe that any mention of the beautiful Gwen Stefani must be accompanied by pictures.
My husband has been to a few of her concerts with our daughter, up front all googly-eyed and drooling :) Gwen rocks!

You amuse me Elephant Man.
No one could seriously question my conservative credentials. You make it seem as though I'm esousing taking the 8 awards and splitting them among 8 different people. I just can't believe that one song... ONE SONG is better in each of the 8 categories than all other songs during the year. I enjoy the song -it's good elevator or background music at work - pleasant, but to win 8 awards... That's just overkill.
To: ElephantMan
I maintain that it was for one song. The only song that anyone, who hasn't bought the CD, has probably heard. The album gets in on the strength of the song. This drives all of the other awards.

Been a Jones fan for about a year, a friend emailed me about her, so I checked her out. Glad to see that she cleaned up.
And the poster who mentioned Christopher Cross had it right, back when he won the Grammy, there were no music videos, all people knew of him was the voice. After we saw him on TV, he fell victim to the anti-size bias (still) out there.

No. She was standing in front of a barn. And yes, she does look hot there.

"Landslide" didn't get any noms. "Long Time Gone" got nominated for country song and country performance by a group, winning the latter. They also won best Country instrumental for "Lil' Jack Slade".

I maintain that it was for one song. I guess there's no use debating with someone who has their mind made up...but having been in the biz for 14 years and having been to the Grammy Awards several times and having voted in the Grammy competition twice...I respectfully maintain that you don't know what you're talking about.
And yes, it is anti-competitive, liberal nutjob kind of thinking to suggest that one artist shouldn't win 8 Grammy Awards. There's no difference between thinking that way and believing that "the rich" need to pay "their fair share"--or that a school shouldn't have a Valedictorian because it isn't fair to single out only one student for such an honor when so many others worked so hard as well.
I mean, do you think it's unfair that liberal writer Norman Mailer has a 21 car garage and over 2 dozen vehicles? 2 DOZEN CARS? For ONE person? When some people don't even have one car? (I'd call it hypocritical, but certainly not unfair)
:)
