Does anybody here seriously think that the SC would allow sex with children, if it somehow made it all the way there. Seriously, the speculation is a bit silly. There is a big difference between sex between adults and sex with children who can't really consent. I don't like homosexuality, and I'll speak my mind about it and take shots at it, but I won't try and use something as ridiculous as this opening the door to sex with children to go after it. I, and most everybody else here, can make much better cases against homosexuality.

Children can consent, what makes you think they can’t, because the legislature says so? LOL So if the legislature made the age of consent 12 like it is in the Nederlands you think the USSC is going to intervene?

Yes. I think it would. And I'll tell you how. Look for cases of men having sex with minors between 14 and 18 where there is explicit consent. Statutory rape charges are filed. The man sues on the basis of the age of consent law being arbitrary and unfair. It goes all the way to the supreme court. I would look for lots of "age of consent" lawsuits in the near future.

Why are you surprised?

If the SC can say it is ok to have SODOMY, then why is it a stretch to say it is ok to have sex with a 12 year old?

If you read Justice Kennedy's majority opinion you will very seriously think they might do just that. He makes it very clear that history, religion, tradition or majority opinion are not grounds for prohibiting what most consider abnormal and immoral behavior. Within 24hrs. of the Lawrence case a Kansas court struck down the decision against an 18 year old boy who had sex with a 15 year old boy. It seems to me that it is now just a matter of age. If 18 is all right how about 21 or 25. And if 15 is all right then why not 13 or 10. After all age is such a relative thing. Based on Kennedy's opinion what are the grounds for ruling against pedophilia. I fully expect NAMBLA to start a case through the courts in the not too distant future. You may not want to think of such things, but hoping they won't come to pass won't stop them.

30 years ago you could have read, "Does anybody here seriously think that the SC would allow homosexual sex, if it somehow made it all the way there. Seriously, the speculation is a bit silly."

Never understimate the power of sin to corrupt. Never.

Shalom.

The Europenas have been liberalising their child protection laws for years. This SCOTUS looks to Europe for guidance on matters of mores when ruling against states in America that are guaranteed, supposedly, the tenth amendment.

Doesn't seem like much of a stretch to me.

As evidence I offer Roe and Doe. Roe originally allowed abortion in the first trimester. Doe expanded that to killing them on the way out.

And now we have learned men such as Singer at Princeton who wants to extend that to two years after exiting the womb and Watson who has decided that the Nazi's were right after all vis a vis eugenics.

All things are possible in a world where moral absolutes have gone the way of the Pony Express.
